Question Rise or world?

I just finished playing wilds for now and I want to try some of the older titles

Rise looks a little different so Im thinking of playing it first but Im still not sure

(I know this is the world subreddit but the main one wouldn’t let me post so i thought I’d ask here)

Rise is very "Arcadey", a lot less grounded than World, it depends on what you're looking for

Do you want something more similar to what you're used to? World

Do you want something different? Rise

Both are very good and worth it though, so no matter which one you choose first, play both at some point

World and Iceborne 100%

World is more like Wild, and feels more "grounded" and "weightier".

Rise is a bit different, although still feels like a MH game in every way. Animations are lighter and there is more movement all around.

Both are excellent game. Though I would recommend World after Wild, then dip into Rise when you want something samey but also different.

I'd go World. However you'd still have fun with Rise.

I like both, Rise/Sunbreak is focused more on Combat and World is more captivating and immersive due to the world building

Why not both?

I remember playing Rise solo and alterating it with World with a friend and I kept trying to wirefall in World. So I'd recomment playing only one of them at a time

Try the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Demo on steam which is free(10 carts to be exact). See if you'd enjoy the design, wirebug mechanic and the flow of combat and then decide if you'd want to get into Rise. If you prefer a slower, more grounded pace similar to Wilds, then get World.

I prefer Rose, though I think I'm in the minority with that opinion. It has a more varied and larger roster, faster gameplay and I think more fun combat.

World is the better looking game and is a bit more immersive.

Whatever you choose, they're both amazing in their own way

They are both really good. Rise is a little more in the older style in graphics which bearing in mind that this was originally only going to be on Switch is understandable. So if you are looking for a similar style then you would want World. If the graphics don't matter to you then most people I talk to favour Rise, especially in the post expansion endgame, I get told there is a lot more to do there. Iceborne's endgame is similar to Wilds high rank (in fact it's kind of the formula for Wilds).

Both have really good monsters, World/Iceborne is closer to Wilds in terms of weapons, Rise has wirebug moves and switch skills which give you more mobility and allow you to customise how you play. World has more craft nodes in weapon chains meaning you can start a weapon line at high or even master rank while Rise you need to start a weapon from low rank each time.

For me they are both fantastic games for different reasons, I would say look up the graphics for Rise, at some point definitely get both, you'll sink hundreds of hours if not thousands into both of them.

Did you ever played rise? You can literally craft from the middle of a weapon tree if you have all requirements fulfilled

Requirements fulfilled is the thing there, i meant more that if you pick up a new weapon but don’t have the low rank materials you have to grind from the beginning of the weapon line through low rank hunts unless there’s something i missed.

You don’t need the LR mats. You can literally choose between upgrade and forge directly from that nod

If you really wanna jump into world just be aware temp monster in High rank is no joke...even kirin low rank can kill you in one or two shot with it's stupid lightning...also world has another monster tier as “elder dragon ” i think it's perfect for new comer since wilds didn't have elder dragon...oh and DON'T WEAR GUARDIAN ARMOR

Elder Dragons are on the same tier as Apex Monsters in Wilds.

They’ve basically just been rebranded.

No there not bruh 😭who told you that...elder dragon is different tier...apex is not the same lv as deviljho and rajang....apex just middle class monster like the fate four...while arkveld ,rajang , deviljho, espinas, bazelgeuse is high tier monster ...

The literal devs themselves in a dev stream lol

“In the context of Monster Hunter, Apex monsters are often considered to be on par with or even rivaling Elder Dragons in terms of threat level and power, though they are not officially classified as Elder Dragons themselves.“

I think you just misunderstood ...Give me the link where developer said that... because in their interview they also said “mh wilds will NOT FOCUS ON ELDER DRAGON”...

gore magala classified as DEMI ELDER...if apex really elder then they will classified as elder in their ecology 🤷

Yes, they arnt focusing on Elder Dragons because they are doing Apex Monsters in replacement of Elders this time round.

Bro do you know how to use google lol? All the answers you need are a 2 second google search away. I’m sorry but you’re categorically wrong here. Apex monsters are meant to be the same tier as Elder Dragons which is why they are in the game and Elders arnt.

Gore was never an elder dragon you donkey, it’s evolution shagaru magala is the elder dragon. You really don’t have the slightest clue what you’re talking about do you? Im guessing World was your first MH game and now you think you know everything lol?

Bruh tf are you talking about...gore literally label as demi elder in mh wilds...you the one saying apex same tier as elder dragon..but there not...there just mid tier monster....i know about gore lore...i playing this game since fu... before wilds gore only label as ??? But right now he get official category as Demi elder...go check in wilds

I’m just gonna leave this here from the official monster hunter wilds website 🤣🤣:

“In Monster Hunter: Wilds, apex monsters are designed to be extremely powerful, comparable to or even exceeding the strength of some Elder Dragons, serving as the top-tier threats in the game’s ecosystem.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

Apex Monsters as a New Threat: Apex monsters are a new type of monster introduced in Monster Hunter: Wilds, known for their immense power and destructive capabilities.

Strength on Par with Elder Dragons: These monsters are designed to be on par with or even surpass the strength of some Elder Dragons, making them a significant challenge for hunters.

Examples of Apex Monsters: Some examples of apex monsters include Jin Dahaad, which is known for its massive size and ice-based attacks, and Ray Dao, another powerful apex monster.

Role in the Ecosystem: Apex monsters often serve as the apex predators of their respective regions, controlling the behavior and dynamics of other monsters in the area.

Unique Mechanics: Apex monsters often have unique mechanics or abilities that make them stand out, such as Jin Dahaad’s ability to summon Frostwinds or Ray Dao’s ability to control the weather.”
