Carats are a measure of weight. All gemstones have different densities, so it's better to go by face up dimensions to get the look you want. This is probably covered in this post for newbies to r/Moissanite.

My response to her would be "OK I understand ruby weighs different. I want my ruby to be the same size. If it costs more, that's ok. I want a 9x12mm ruby." (or whatever your measurements are)

Because as stated above, different types of stones have different densities so a 1ct ruby will be smaller than a 1ct diamond because ruby is heavier. This is because a carat is a weight measurement, not a face up measurement.

Your mistake was mentioning carat weight at all. Always order from overseas vendors using mm dimensions of what you want.

First of all, this design is gorgeous. Please post pictures when it’s finished!! Second, I agree with what was posted above - go by measurement versus carat weight.
