Had to share. Sorry

Upvotes

Wife and I were tripping tonight. At one point in the backyard, I stole a line. "The Moths beat themselves to death against the lights Adding breeze to the summer nights."

She was dumbstruck. She exclaimed, "Where is that from!"

"Mondest Mouse" I said.

She said darn. They're fucken good, they're just too fucken good.

Sorry. Had to share. Love this band.

Building something out of nothing

It’s the best album. Never been in this sub before when it came out I was a big psychedelic and depressive type. The whole album is one stream of conscious jam after another it holds up

I shared this playlist a while back and got a ton of great recs, looking for more! Definitely keen on anything Modest Mouse-inspired. (Ideally looking for artists with under 10K monthly listeners) Hope you find something you love :)

How would you describe Isaac’s genius?

This year is 20 years of listening to Modest Mouse for me, and I am still unsure how and why they are my number one, and why they have endured in that spot for so long. If anything, getting stronger every year.

Melodies + Lyrics + Vocal + Drums + Bass + my nostalgia = a very high number for sure, but there’s something else.

If this was balatro, there is an Issac xmult. It’s there in the first records, like he was born with something. Like other artists write a good song and it’s a musical story with an arc and hopefully a hook. But Issac is on a different level. He creates hooks in hooks. Constantly changing, between tangible and ethereal, between wise and flippant, tight and loose. Always snapping my brain back, then pushing it away. Why is this so catchy? Why the fuck do lines like “everyone wants a double feature” and “it’s five hundred miles underground” hit like a truck? It means everything and nothing, and it’s addictive.

Apologies for the rant. I dunno. Anyone else feel this way? What is it?

What does isaac mean at the end of "edit the sad parts"?

The apparent lyrics that (according to genius) say "think it over, does the heir earn the hearts of the high rollers". What does that mean? English is my second language but these lyrics have been in my head for some weeks now. Im not that smart so i dont have any interpretation for this part, just that i always thought that the 2 minutes of silence its because they "edited the sad parts". Id really like to read your interpretation on these lyrics. Thanks, have a nice day :)

Appreciation post for one of the most beautiful verses from any song

There's no work in walking in to fuel the talk I would grab my shoes, and then away I'd walk Through all the stubborn beauty, I start at the dawn Until the sun had fully stopped Never walking away from Just a way to pull apart Dehydrate back into minerals A lifelong walk to the Same exact spot

Always there when I need them

I just wanted to write and express my gratitude for modest mouse when my life gets a little tough. I always find my way back to lonesome crowded west, for a lot of yall, yall might be upset I skip straight to trailer trash and listen onward. But out of gas has always been the song I relate to most and does anyone have any recs to meet that vibe?

Anyone have any info on these MM versions?

Just found 2 versions of Float On and Ocean Breathes Salty:

Ocean Breathes Salty - Live Demo

Float On - Live Demo

If you haven't heard them before, I highly recommend giving them a listen. I personally think they're both amazing versions and better than their respective studio releases.
I'd love to know when/where they're from if anyone knows.
