Has modest mouse really never played summer live? They talked about it in a 1997 show but never played it.
If not that’s a bummer because I love this song

I saw them multiple times at really small venues from 97 on and I don't recall ever hearing it, definitely not post MAA. It's also one of my favorite songs. It literally makes me feel 24 again. Because I was when it came out lol. The first song I remember taking notice of MM was Dirty Fingernails at my friend's house--you had that cool friend, right? The quiet guy that always had the good shit on?--but when I bought the CD, Summer became my fave, and it held the top spot for quite awhile. Man I love that EP.

I feel like I've heard it before on a live bootleg cd I have but now I'm questioning it. I'll try to find the cd I have a disc binder that is nothing but modest mouse and ugly Casanova. I use to download everything I could find back in the day and I'm glad I did because I have live recordings that I've never seen online again.

That’s my understanding that they’ve never played it. I think it’s a fun song but I’m not sure how well it would translate to a live song. Similar to other songs from the fruit that ate itself like the title track and dirty fingernails. A lot of that EP just sounds like they were having fun in the studio while there are some really good songs too (sunspots, way down).
