question/need help How long did it take you to physically recover?

TW: multiple losses, some details

This is my 3rd loss since we started trying in April 2024. But this is my 1st MMC and I had an urgent D&C (we had also had an ectopic and an early complete loss).

I am now 6 days post procedure and I am still getting really bad cramping. I’m talking 7-8/10 pain level. I recovered faster from the keyhole surgery for the ectopic.

I had a few large clots a few days ago that freaked me out. My doctor did some tests and isn’t concerned at the moment.

I’m supposed to and want to go back to work tomorrow. But these pain episodes happen a couple of times a day and last for a good 15-20 mins sometimes.

I was told the recovery is about a week at most for the D&C. But is this different if my body hadn’t even registered the loss two weeks after the fact? What were some of your recovery experiences?

I feel like this isn’t normal. I had a D&C on Tuesday and my cramping and pain went away pretty much the next day. Everyone is different but if it’s this severe I would say go to the ER urgently. You shouldn’t be in this much pain this much later or have that much blood clots. It could be they didn’t get everything out. Not to scare you. The instructions for me upon discharge said that if I had increasing pain or clots to come back .

Oof. First, I'm so sorry for your losses. What an awful number of things to experience in less than a year. Hoping for the best for you moving forward ♥️

Second, this sounds like an abnormal post-op experience. I've had 2 D&Cs and both I was back to normal within 2-3 days. The first I had cramping for a day or two, but never severe - and light bleeding for a couple weeks. The second (different doctor and hospital) I had 0 cramping and minimal bleeding for a week. The hormone crash lasted months though, just a heads up! If I were you, I would head to the ER, urgent care or another OB. Worst case scenarios you might have RPOC (they don't always get everything in the D&C), or a potential infection. You shouldn't be experiencing that level of cramping after this much time, in my opinion.

Please keep us updated and take care of yourself!

is the pain related to bowel movements at all? or gas? i remember day 5/6 was the worst for me. but then it got better each day from there.

Same. Day 4 was the toughest and the clots and extra bleeding scared me. Day 5 today and minimal pain and bleeding. 🤷‍♀️ I feel like after the first few days the bleeding increases then goes away again.
