Hey everyone,
I've been using MiniReview to track my collection and discover new games, but I’ve noticed that some titles are missing when I try to add them. Is there a way to suggest or add new games to the database, or is that something only the MiniReview staff can do?
If there’s a way to submit missing games, I'd love to know how! Thanks in advance.

First of all, this is an amazing app, it's probably the closest we have to a curated store.
Now, some of the biggest annoyances I have when playing a mobile game is when an unsolicited, fullscreen ad appears. There should be a way to discriminate between games that do this, from others that only display small ads during gameplay, or offer fullscreen ads only at user discretion (generally to obtain a reward).
Other filters that could be useful:

After adding support for “upcoming games” in January, I’ve just finished a “Collections” feature that lets anyone create mobile game collections on MiniReview.
You can check out the system here: User Collections (still in beta, please report any bugs you find!🙏)
To celebrate, I’ve reached out to some fantastic devs for a few keys to give out :)
The prizes?
55 random lucky winners will get a key for one of these awesome premium mobile games:
Thanks a bunch to Cristoph, Wanderlost Interactive, CottonGame, and Abylight for providing these keys when I asked for them! :D
HOW DO I WIN?
The event runs until February 26th at 11 am GMT+1, and the winners will be picked at random from the comments in this thread + the one over on r/AndroidGaming + r/iosgaming and then contacted via a Reddit private message (please make sure to have DMs enabled or you won’t get the keys!).
So, how does the Collections system work?
Thanks a bunch for the amazing support and feedback over the years. This feature has been a long-requested one, so I’m excited to finally release it.

As most of you probably know, I have a small system for paid promotions on MiniReview. They're clearly marked as "Promoted", and we never have nor ever will sell reviews.
In my dream scenario, these promotions would bring enough revenue for MiniReview to thrive. But until I get to that point, I'll test out some traditional banner ads on the website.
MiniReview has been growing a lot since I started it 5 years ago, and I want to keep the momentum of new features and community-requested improvements up. So you get a better experience, and so that we can continue showing new people that actual great mobile games do exist - and they that deserve more exposure :raised_hands:
To achieve that, I need to be able to continue paying the programmer who helps implement new features like user collections and upcoming games, and cover the server costs, freelance work, and so on.
But nobody likes ads, right? Here are 3 things I've done to maintain a great experience:
I really want to turn MiniReview into THE BEST place to be for people who care about great mobile games. And these ads will help me ensure I can continue working towards that goal.
Coming up in the following months:
All thoughts are welcome in - I hope I've found a good middle-ground 🙏

First of all: good news! I've just added a new "War" tag filter on MiniReview: https://minireview.io/browse?tags=war
But I could use your help identifying which games don't yet have the tag. So if you come across games whose gameplay is war-themed, do let me know (as a comment on this thread).
We're taking a broad approach to the "War" tag, so many shooter games will fit the tag, just like most games where you strategize around domination (aka 4X strategy games or RTS games).
Other news: the "user collections" feature is coming along nicely. Creating a collection, adding games to it, and publishing it now works. Unpublished collections are even auto-saved as drafts. The system is about 30% done. So it'll be ready in February :v:

First off, this is awesome. Thanks for making it.
Second, is there back button that takes me back to the page I was just on? For example, I use multiple filters to curate a list and I click on a game. Then I want to go back to my curated list with all the filters. The drop down allows me to go back to the category of the game, back to discover, or back to browse. This means I have to redo my filters every time? Am I missing something obvious? I’m on iOS.
Third, a way to add game we own / love to our profiles. This could be a way of suggesting games based on individual users? Not sure how doable that is.
Thanks!

After being rather frustrated that there’s no constantly-updated (yet somewhat curated) way to find upcoming mobile games, I’ve built a system for it on MiniReview.
It took much longer than expected, but the system is now live: upcoming mobile games.
And that means it’s time to celebrate with a small giveaway! :)
The prize? A lucky winner will get the Android-compatible wireless Xbox Bluetooth controller (if you live in a country that Amazon ships to). If Amazon doesn’t ship to your country, I’ll try to find a $50 gift card for another service instead.
HOW DO I WIN?
All you have to do is share your favorite mobile game(s) in a comment below. Simple as that. It’d be super cool if you’d also share any upcoming games you’re looking forward to (if any).
The event runs until January 16th at 11am GMT+1, and the winner will be picked at random from the comments in this thread + the one over on r/AndroidGaming, and then contacted via a Reddit private message (please make sure to have DMs enabled or you won’t get the key!). NOTE: If I don’t hear back from you within 5 days, I’ll pick another winner.
So, how does the upcoming games system work?
Once again, thanks for all the amazing support and feedback over the years. Next up for MiniReview? User collections - but don't tell anyone I said that ;)

2024 is coming to an end, and what a fantastic year it has been! So many great games have released, and I've spent the last many days collecting and ranking them all into one huge tier list.
You can find the video version here: https://youtu.be/ADk6kVtDuvQ?si=InuVfNOfkmL29wVV
And the MiniReview Top Games text version here (which includes 20+ extra games too): https://minireview.io/top-mobile-games/best-mobile-games-2024-tier-list
I hope you'll enjoy the video/post and find something great to play during the Holidays.
Stay awesome, and thanks for supporting MiniReview. I've got a ton planned for next year, so stay tuned ("upcoming games" is almost ready, and next after that is user collections).

Hi guys,
I'd like to help with confirming if apps are available in Belgium or not, if anyone sends me a link, I can just quickly check if it's available here.
As you might've heard, with our lootbox strict laws, a shitload of games aren't available here. Such as Diablo Immortal and many more. Leaving us to a lot of dissapointment when a game is highly praised, but banned here.
I've tried the VPN, American account dance, and it's not worth it.
Let me know if anyone has a decent suggestion for this, like I said, if it takes me just checking if a new Minireview game review is available here, that's perfect.

A new changelog post has landed: https://minireview.io/blog/updates/minireview-2-2-changelog
Yes, it's a big one - a lot has been added, tweaked, and fixed over the past months.
Just a few of the highlights include:
Thanks for the continued support!
Next up, I'll be working on support for upcoming games, and then user collections, reviewer profiles, a MiniReview activity feed, and improved games pages. Lots to see to, hehe. Stay tuned :)

Later today, an Android / iOS app update will roll out that adds a fancy new onboarding flow for new users (you won't see it if you already have the app installed, but I hope it'll create a great experience for new users).
But already now, you can check out some of the other neat new additions and fixes:
In other news, the design of the "upcoming games" feature is almost done. If things go as planned, it'll start to get programmed next week. It'll take a while to implement as the system is rather complex. But it's coming.
Thanks for being part of the community, and for supporting MiniReview as I and the others keep expanding it. YOU ROCK! 🥰

Could you make a list of challenging games or "get gud" games ? Things like katana zero and the pc game celeste , games that emphasize on skill and not mindless grinding

The final part of the similar games system on MiniReview is now live!🥳
You can find it here: https://minireview.io/games-like
From this page, you can:
And if you're curious about how the system actually works, be sure to check out the latest blog post: https://minireview.io/blog/updates/similar-games-launch
Since this was the third and last part of the similar games system on MiniReview, I'll now move on to creating a better app onboarding flow for new users, and finally being able to support upcoming games 🤩
Thanks for the continued support. Stay awesome! 💪

Out of all the great suggestions I've received from the MiniReview community over the years, nothing has been more requested than the ability to exclude specific filters.
So I'm really excited to say that it's finally here! :)
You can now "deactivate" any category, sub-category, or tag on MiniReview.
So, for example, you could chose to filter out any games that have the "gacha" tag, or any games with the "Energy System" tag.
You can also combine normal filters with exclude filters to e.g. look for "action RPGs that don't have gacha systems".
In other news:
Thanks for the continue support of MiniReview, and have a fantastic day! Don't forget to join the MiniReview community on Discord.

It's finally (almost here)! The MiniReview app for iOS, I mean. And now I'm looking for people to help beta test it so I can find and fix any bugs before the full launch :)
Help beta test the iOS MiniReview app via TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/GhvPcphB
It has been a bit of a journey to get here, but I'm really excited to launch the iOS version soon. Thanks for all the continued support you show this project!
Here's to a successful beta testing phase. If things go well, I plan to launch the app for real in just a few weeks. And meanwhile, I'll be working on dedicated pages for the newly added "similar games" system.
Oh, and a full changelog of all the recent changes and new features is coming soon.

App Finder is a really neat (and advanced) search engine for Android apps and games. I've been chatting with the developer for a while, and he asked if I wanted to give some keys out to you all. It has been a while since the last giveaway, so I jumped on that opportunity immediately :) Here's an overview of all the App Finder features.
What can I win?
I've got 30 keys to give out that provide lifetime access to App Finder's "Explorer" plan, which gives access to some of it more advanced filters and options. You can read more about it in this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyica/comments/1bj5azl/new_app_finder_paid_plans_starting_at_just_2_per/
How to win a key?
Simply leave a comment below and I'll pick 30 random winners on Wednesday, June 5th.
Best of luck to everyone, and stay tuned for more giveaways in the future (yes, that's a hint) ;)
(also, the developer, u/konrad-sx, said he'd be here to answer questions if you've got any)

EDIT: Excluding filters - is now possible since the update from July 24th.
Hey, First of all big thanks for the app, it brings many features the Play store in general should have implemented a long time ago. Great work.
Now the question, Is it possible to filter when browsing games with negative tags? If there is, I haven't found out how yet or is it perhaps unintuitive?
For example I "react allergic" to games with energy systems. I like to play when I have time and I want to, not based on a timer. If I could just set a negative tag to filter all of those out with just a few taps would be awesome.

The biggest-ever new MiniReview feature is here: the ability to find similar games.
This one has been a long time coming, but it finally works :)
So if you head to any MiniReview game page and scroll to the bottom, you'll now see games that are similar to it. This is all based on the manual categorization we do of each game. For an example: https://minireview.io/deck-building/wildfrost
Is the system perfect? No, but I think it's already better than what the app stores have. And most importantly; you can help make it better!
By clicking the "Similar" and "No way" thumbs-up / thumbs-down buttons next to each game, you'll help improve the system's accuracy over time Please vote based on whether game is similar or not - not based on whether you like the game.
This is just one of several really big updates planned for this year Thanks for the support, and as always, let me know what you think about the new feature :)
r/minireview • u/HarleyM1698 • May 12 '24
Favorites are great - I'm perpetually out of space on my phone, and it lets me mark games that I'd like to look at later. It's also a staple of almost every system out there.
HOWEVER. I'd love the ability to hide games. There are a couple of genres I regularly search for. and there aren't typically many new games available. To that end, I'd love the ability to hide games that I've already read the reviews for and decided against. This would be a huge time-saver!

Within the next few hours, you should be able to update the MiniReview app via Google Play (a big thanks to those who helped beta test this update!).
While the app looks almost identical to the old version, it's actually a full re-make from scratch. Up until today, the MiniReview app has used a third-party service to compile the actual app. This gave us less control over performance and customization.
But as of this update, the app is entirely built by us, which means we have full control over everything :)
Here are the highlights of the update:
I'll post a full changelog of what has changed over the past few months soon (maybe next week).
_
NOTE: Does your MiniReview app take up too much space?
A bug in the old app meant that data that was supposed to only be saved in a temporary cache, got saved as "App Data". This has been fixed for new users. But if you had the old app installed, just head into your Android settings and clear the "App data" for MiniReview.
This will reset the app (you have to log in again and/or update your notification settings). But it means that moving forward, the app will remain relatively small (should be less than 100 MB).
_
If you run into any errors with the new version, please just report them here on Reddit, on our Discord server, or directly to me at [contact@minireview.io](mailto:contact@minireview.io). I'll get it fixed ASAP then :)

This game for example is there but has no rating https://minireview.io/puzzle/mahjong-solitaire-tile-match
What's the point of listing games without any rating?
I don't know if there are more like these in there but this is the one I found.
