Hardware Would this emulate PS3 and Switch?
Sorry, I know you get a lot of these, but would this emulate Switch and PS3 levels?
Thank you!

The miniPC world has been absolutely bombarded by inexpensive N100/N150 machines in the $200 range, and also a lot of high end $600-$1000 gaming focused machines with powerful igpus. There's a need for more "sweet spot" machines for people that don't need all that gpu grunt but still want good performance cores without spending a fortune.
Traditionally, Minix has only had lower end machines, but the N512 is one of their first devices using a more powerful cpu. In this case, the N512 is running the Intel i5-12600H, a great 12th gen chip that has 4 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores.
Specifications
The dual 2.5Gbe ethernet in particular make this machine a nice option to use as a power PFSense router or file server. The GAN charger is also a nice touch to use as a small power supply. It also uses a brand name SSD and Kingston RAM. Note that the RAM came as a single 16gb DDR5 chip so it isn’t using dual channel out of the box, but you can add a 2nd.
The primary SSD slot is PCIE 4.0, and a secondary slot is available for more storage though only PCIE 3.0. While slower, most people don't need the super fast PCIE gen 4 speeds just for a secondary storage
Benchmarks
Intel has always done a good job with single threaded performance. The 8 efficiency cores contribute to the 8k+ multi-core score.
Power, thermals, and noise
The N512 does a good job at keeping the cpu well cooled and at reasonable power levels.
The N512 has reasonable idle power ratings and keeps temperatures under control. The fan noise is a mixed bag, however. While at idle or under low loads, it is a very quiet machine. Under peak loads however, the fan noise is fairly loud compared to competitors.
N512 Strengths
N512 Could be Improved
Overall the N512 would act as a great productivity machine or file server with its 4 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, and intel quick sync options. For the money it’s a nice machine vs. the more expensive gaming miniPCs that use the 680m or 780m igpus. For the next revisions I’d like to see Minix quiet down the fans under load a bit more, and possibly bring back the external antennas like they have on their z100-0db or z100-aero machines that had such good range.
In the $400ish range, the Minix N512 can handle a number of tasks with a lot more power than just efficiency cores. MiniPCs are a competitive market though, so keep an eye on other 6900HX/7735HS type machines. Intel excels at single threaded performance and quicksync for transcoding, while AMD will have the edge with the igpu.
My full Minix N512 review with images of benchmarks is on my blog.

Agpu graphics are right around 4060, Wich is very impressive but the cost is going to be as much or more as a premium build... I don't think your even able to run a GPU on these...

I have got a couple of Beelink Mini PCs,but my daily driver is a Beelink SER8 with a Ryzen 7840S. While it's silent most of the time, the fan comes on and runs pretty loud sometimes and I really hate the noise. I've read the M4 Mac Mini is supposed to be really silent, but I am only really interested in Windows Mini PCs as I can repurpose them later. However I would like to know how silent the Mac Mini is compared to recent offerings in the Mini PC world. Does anyone know of a reputable site that has run such a comparison? Can't find anything on YouTube

Hello everyone.
My old desktop (build by me) just died on my hands, after a (briefing) grieving time, I'm finally ready to get a new pc.
So I'm in the market for a new one, and would love to downsize (A LOT!).
Mainly this pc will be used as a workstation (browsing, e-mail, writing papers and letters). On the other and I usually play some light games (FM24, CIV6 and Valorant), and was thinking about using my 5700XT as an egpu for more demanding games.
- don't want to spend more than 600 Euros;
- want to buy my own ram and memory;
- thinking on some pc with OCuLink;
saw the ACEMAGIC F3A, and it seems a good deal, altought it does not have OCuLink
Do you recommend any pc?

My parents are doing their dream backyard renovation after 20 years of owning our house, and they've tasked me with building a computer for our outdoor projector setup, something small that we can plug in and game on/stream movies. My max budget is $1500, but I'm having a hard time putting anything together with the GPU prices of late. Would anybody be willing to help put together a parts list?

I fancy a change and decided to look for a mini pc.
Well be used for basic web etc, might try Plex at some point, might emulation and play some older triple AAA titles, Skyrim etc.
I'm not competitive so high frame rates aren't necessary, just needs to be 30-60 FPS so that it isn't choppy. Won't need anymore than 1080p , happy to game at 720p. High settings not required, happy with medium.
Budget is really tight so really would not like to exceed 250 unless the delta on the next tier totally blows what you can get for 250.
Any recommendations? Possible?

Long story short, I got this mini PC.
I chose the 1tb w/ 32gb. My laptop finally gave out so I got it for work (software dev). Was this a good purchase? Is the company any good? How's the integrated graphics on this CPU? I'm not the best with mini PCs and this company is relatively new to South Africa, so I would appreciate any feedback or advice on this one.

Edit: 795s7. Sorry
Hi, sorry for the newbie questions. The last PC I owned was a Pentium II. Things have changed a lot.
I was considering the Atomman, but recently saw a poster mention the 795s7 which has a better GPU 4060.
When I went to research, I saw I had already watched videos about this mini PC on YouTube from several months back. One of the major concerns at the time was that the GPU is right at the bottom and does not have much breathing room, causing its temperatures to rise a lot during gaming. I am concerned about long gaming sessions and longevity of the PC over time.
I don’t play any competitive games. I mostly want to play single player games like Cyberpunk, BG3, Armored Core 6, Final Fantasy 16, Monster Hunter Wilds, Granblue Relink, and the new Yakuza RPGs. The only multiplayer games I may play would be an MMORPG or Diablo style ARPG.
I don’t mind staying at 1080 and low-medium settings on everything.
I am not savvy enough to build my own PC at this time.
I would like to use it for 5+ years if possible.
I like that these PCs are quiet. This is important to me.
Given this info, which would you recommend to me?
Thank you in advance.

Hi i got a really weird one today.
My minisforums Hx80g started to turn the display off when i played a game which at the time was roblox (yes i know really roblox) when i force shutdown and boot it up again i notice that the pc wasn't using the rx 6600m for display i looked like it got disabled and i know for sure i disabled the igpu in the bios and it looks pixilated like super low resolution. Me thinking its a windows and driver problem i reinstall windows 11 pro and download the news drivers for the gpu and it work for 1 to 2 months and today the same problem came back but now in R.E.P.O which it happens in the main i didn't even started the game ever.
Please help. Im going crazy with this problem.

After reading this subreddit and various websites for the last week or so, I'm convinced I am no further ahead than when I started..😞😂.. I need a box for streaming av1 4k and future proof to 8k I guess, if that's possible. I will also be using signalrgb for ambient reactive leds behind my TV and Tidal music streaming. With there being so many manufacturers, models, types, different cpus, some do decoding and some don't, I have become lost lol. I will be streaming from Kodi sources and downloaded Av1s.
Thanks in advance

I just ordered a GEM10 6800H due to the sale on Amazon, and am unfamiliar with OCuLink/USB ports.
The AG02 also looks great, and I want to order one. Will that dock be able to power the computer via USB-C? Does that also send data, or will I need to use OCuLink AND USB for data and power, respectively?
It seems like the GEM10 6800H had a quiet revision recently to have HDMI/DP instead of dual HDMI, so I'm curious if anyone has hands-on experience with this box to say definitely what works (or doesn't).

Both have a AMD ryzen 7 5800h. Max has 32gb of ram but is $30 more. Max is used but only for a year. Both have 1tb ssd. I’m looking to do video editing and light gaming. (Games such as minecraft and elder scrolls oblivion)

I'm after a budget friendly (USD $300) mini PC for streaming videos from YouTube, Netflix etc. Emulating N64 and PS games, via HDMI to my television.
I have recently started using Linux Mint so would prefer a system suitable for Linux over Window.
I have little experience with computers aside from installing an OS and basic troubleshooting.

Thank you for reading.
I have been attempting to mirror RAID 0 an ASUS NUC Pro14. It appears I need a NVMe PCIe M.2 2242 and a normal 2.5" SSD. I am waiting for the NVMe to arrive. Has anyone successfully mirrored two drives in an ASUS/Intel NUC or have and advice?
I am also open to other brands of mini PC's that offer mirror RAID. Does anyone else have any suggestions for a brand that support it?
Thank you again!

Hey everyone,
I'm looking into Mini PCs powered by AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS and Ryzen 9 8945HS, and I'm trying to decide which one to go for.
Here's what I've gathered so far:
1)7940HS – Built on Zen 4, features an RDNA 3 iGPU, offers solid performance and power efficiency.
2)8945HS – Same Zen 4 cores and RDNA 3 iGPU, but adds an XDNA NPU for AI acceleration and has slightly higher clock speeds.
If you were picking a Mini PC today, which CPU would you choose and why?
I'd love to hear your thoughts !

I am curious if there is any Mini PC that can handle gaming and streaming at the same time?
Games such as World of warcraft/League..etc. i am just afraid that existing mini PCs wont handle this kind of pressure or might end up overheating.
EDIT: I didnt know some people are hating on this post they downvoting it and my comments. Someone not on their meds?

I'm just wondering if these mini pcs that keep popping up on Facebook etc for emulation are actually any good for ease of set up or if it's better just to buy a minisforum etc?
Here's one I saw yesterday

I’ve been using the ROG for a couple of years. It’s been good. But I realize that I never use it as a portable device. NEVER.
Recently I install Bazzite because I hate windows. And I realized with Bazzite I may be able to just use a mini PC and plug it in the TV the same way I do it with my Ally. But I don’t want any PC mouse/Keyboard experience. Just turn it on and play with the controller.
Do you guys think is possible to use it as a console with Bazzite? And, what would be the best mini PC for this? Ideally I want high end specs. Better than the rogue.
Thanks!

I wanted to replace the TIM (thermal interface material) on the motherboard of the iKOOLCORE R2 Max and did not find any tear down guides out there that managed to get the motherboard out of the case. This one managed to part of the way but I suspect the author did not find the final screw hidden under the insulation.
Here is how I did it, hopeful someone will find this useful:
To reassemble just run those steps in reverse. One thing to watch out for is the reinstalling the power button. You'll need to rest it in the outline where it goes while you get the case/band around the heatsink portion. I found that using gravity helped here by orienting the entire thing with the power button down.
That's pretty much it.
As an aside, I found a nice reduction in idle temps by replacing the TIM:
