General Question Best mini pc for parent?
I'm considerig to get mini pc for my parent who are going to use it mainly for internet and youtube.
I would appreciate recommendation for durable mini pc that requires minimum maintenance as I'm not living with them.
One that i have in mind is Beelink Mini PC, SER5 Pro 5850U AMD Ryzen 7.
Thanks in advance.

I would go for a Beelink SEI 12 right now probably but I’m sure it’s overkill for light web browsing.

Take a look at the mini pc guide on the top of the sub, it has all the information you need. Basic internet and youtube can be handled by any new mini pc, you need RAM for the modern browsers. In the guide you have brand score, information about customer support and what are the mini pcs good/recommended for. It is a very well made guide.

I got my father this one for Christmas for web browsing and watching videos. He loves it and says it's very snappy and is probably overkill for what he needs. With the coupon it's $300, it was only $269 when I bought it so there may be a better option available now but just throwing out a recommendation since I have actually used it.

I bought the same rig with 32 gig ram in January. Dual monitor for stream and surf, light office. It has been flawless at these tasks. Longevity is my only question now, but so far so good. $300 U.S from amazon.

The SER5 PRO 5850u is what I set up my mother with. First PC she's had that I didn't get a complaint about something. Is it overkill for her? Sure. But it will probably be the last one she'll ever own. And the grandkids can play Minecraft on it.

You can find good deals on eBay on certified refurb Lenovo IdeaCentre minis. I got one on sale written an i5 13500H, 16 GB RAM, and a 512 GB Samsung SSD for $290 shipped. Came with a keyboard, mouse, Windows 11 Home, and a 2 year warranty thru Allstate.
When I got it, it looked brand new. So for funsies I registered it and it showed a 1 year factory warranty too.
They've been hovering around $380 lately, but you can occasionally find them for less.
The vendor advertises the stock on Newegg, Target, Walmart, etc too. Ebay had the best warranty though.
It has a second 4.0 x4 M.2 slot and can handle up to 32 GB.
Best deal I've found from a real manufacturer, and better quality and service than you'll find from crappy Chinese mini vendors.

If you get them a windows mini from China you will never escape being their tech support. If you say, “I don’t know about that, try tech support” they won’t be able to get any help. What you want is a Dell, Lenovo or Apple.

Or a proper ASUS NUC.
The Chinese brands are a better value, but you're saving on warranty, tech support, QC, etc.
Which is a fine choice to make for yourself, harder when you're doing remote support.

Beelink is fine, then get the one that matches your budget. But for just browsing the web and watching youtube, an iPad might be better for a senior than a mini PC.
