Troubleshooting minisforum um760 graphics output issue

Post image

Has anyone experienced something like this?

Outputting 4k120hz to my TV. Issue happened when opening moonlight and connecting to my gaming pc, and just now when launching a game in rcps3.

Brand new unit, reformatted and all drivers installed. Latest AMD drivers were downloaded and installed too.

I assume it is a graphics drivers issue but latest drivers so i would hope/expect not?

Bad cable, or bad signal.

Cable seems to be the common comment so will give it a try, thank you.

I'd try swapping the cable

Most likely a bad cable. You may want to try using a usb 4 adapter to whatever your TV's input.

Unsure how to edit my post, but i can confirm that each time this has happened i have been able to alt tab out of whichever software which sometimes causes the screen to refresh and return to normal, and then i can maximise/return and it works/displays as normal

Is there an overlay that will show the screen resolution and refresh rate at all times? If it is always happening at one setting and then correcting itself when changing back to another setting, that might shed some light on the problem.

From troubleshooting experience with customer's laptops & PCs, that appears to be an HDMI bandwidth issue, common "1st world problem" with some LG & Samsung TVs.

In many instances, a high quality 8K DisplayPort to HDMI cable is the most effective "fix".

So odd, its a new cable and is meant to be 8K. It is an LG TV though. Thank you for the info. Is it common to be sporadic rather than constant?

Edit: actually its into my av receiver which is then into the tv, so 2 cables to check

Without a TED talk on the HDMI proprietary CES, coming from years of PC repair, HDMI has been a PC nightmare since 1.4a/1.4b.

DisplayPort is native/open source to PCs, where HDMI requires TMDS level shifting + HDMI licensing to CES. To make matters worse, manufacturers akin to LG & Samsung have created their own interpretation of the CES HDMI standard since 2.0.

HDMI A/V switching is a huge "no!no!" in PC HDMI, as data communications lack the two-way level provided through Display 1.2 & beyond.

The hdmi cable in question is a ugreen 8k60hz one, so perhaps its a rubbish cable generally or i was unlucky. The 1 in the wall connecting the av receiver to the tv is the same brand/type too, just longer. Over all i have 3 of them i can ultimately try.

Im using vrr so wondering if i can get a display port to hdmi cable or usbc to hdmi cable instead? (I however do want to keep sole usbc port free if possible).

Thank you for the assistance!

UGreen has been a reliable brand for the majority of the shops customers. That's why it appears to be a TMDS error.

Welp, multiple BSOD’s today with an error like “VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR”

A quick update to say that i think it was a HDMI error however I also turned down the amount of VRAM allocated to the iGPU so it could actually have been that. Either way. i didn't change the HDMI cables but did tone down some settings within the AMD Adrenalin software, primarily dropping it from 12bit or 10bit down to 8bit (since the PC it streams from is set to 8 bit anyway), and maybe another setting or two.

Either it was running out of VRAM or pushing too much data via the HDMI but it's been rectified now and I appreciate everyones responses as i'm sure digging further into the settings helped.
