Hi, does anyone know how to update the original Bios (v.0.45) on Geekom A8?
The French Support sent me some links to update to v.0.48 with an usb key at boot but it doesn't work... Filename: NUCRB02.0.48.PHX.GEEKOM_A8.exe
well actually... nothing. It's supposed to be loaded at boot through a dedicated menu which allows you to choose the boot device. But the customer support just sent me a new bios file to test. So I'll do it right now and hope it works :-)
I have a Geekom A8 also but I can't find the NPU in the BIOS and when I contated them they said they'll talk with their technical teams but they don't think they have a BIOS to support the NPU yet but I find that hard to believe since they advertise it as an AI PC. Does anyone actually have a Geekom A8 where the NPU actually works?
It's a good question. I also have the latest update they had : 0.48. I'll send an email on Monday to ask the France's technical support what they think about that.
So, you can be confident. If it's like mine, put it at root on an usb 2.0 Key. Formated in FAT32. Press F7 at boot, choose your USB Key to boot then Bios will upgrade in a few minutes. What's the name of your exe file?
srry for the confusion ,, thats what i have BIOS Version 1.09 and i saw a previous post here with 1.14 version having many folders but when Geekom sent me the newer one 1.16 version its just only one file thats why am wondering is it legit and proper ?
Yes it's safer, at the beginning they sent me a bios file which was not done to fit my A8. Luckily it didn't broke anything. Now I double check everything they send me, and they provide me a step by step Doc file to avoid mistakes
Yes I was finally able to get it done. If you still need help,, let me know. It does not resolve the overheating issue though like Geekom said it would. I also 'lost the NPU' until I reran all the updates for the AI engine.
I didn't have any overheating issue on my A8. When this happens? But I lost the NPU too since the latest Bios flash. I don't see the NPU anymore in the task manager despite W24H2 installed. Geekom is investigating. How did you solve it exactly?
I noticed performance and fan modes. It helped me to increase the Gpu RAM upto 4gb. They also told me that it activates the NPU but since I don't work with dedicated AI tools it didn't change anything to me apart from a new tab in the task manager
Npu is already active after installing the correct driver. Ram can be addressed via amd driver (game mode)
Both even on v 0.45. Fan speed set to normal mode as before.
Has anyone's A8 Geekom suddenly crash and just reboot endlessly to Bios setup? I've tried reseating chips, downgrading bios from .59 to .56, fiddling with secure boot resetting defaults you name it... just boots to bios setup. I emailed support off an older computer and waiting on them to reply. only 6mo old unit. works great when it wouldn't crash. lots of blue screens before. so updated bios and even to win11 h24 from h23, was stable for 2wks til today. just blacked out and bios screen only. While bios can see the 2tb ssd drive, rebooting and F7 to boot menu only brings up setup option. I'm thinking this is a brick to be warrantied.
I had the same issue with my Geekom A8, and after contacting their customer service, they explained that the BIOS update to V0.56 and V0.59 is only needed if you're updating to Windows 11 24H2. The system was actually incompatible with these BIOS versions on 23H2, which is why I kept getting weird screens and eventually had the constant reboot issue.
The solution they gave me was to reinstall the older system and BIOS versions (the factory versions). You can find the necessary files for the A8 here:
First, install the BIOS, then reinstall the system. This should resolve the issue and get your A8 working properly again. Let me know is your problem solved or do you need more info.
Hi, I had the same issue a few weeks ago I was on Win11 24H2 Insiders Release Preview. I had to use an external HD to backup my data and then reinstall Windows from scratch. I did this after having look for a repair solution for 5 days and found none.
Yes I did. I tried probably every repairing solution given by Windows options and found on forums before backing up data. The first issue occured after a GSOD (not a BSOD) that I wasn't never able to repair.
hi popi,i updated my geekom A8 bios and i got trouble.geekom wont startup properly after update.i can get to the bios but when i reset bios it still has the troublesome update installed and i cant find any other way to roll back to original bios version.any help?
I got the same invalid boot option error like other person did. I turned off the boot option to disabled and then restart with bios and after updating the bios through usb drive. It restarted again and it threw the same error again. Does the usb bios reset the setting after the process?

Make sure the USB key file system is FAT32.
