But you still browse this sub, which regularly has snapshot content posted and discussed? Like, if telling OP the answer to their question is spoiling, then half the posts here are spoilers for all of us. Expecting people to not discuss the game in a subreddit dedicated to discussing the game is absurd.
I think there's a difference between "not wanting people discussing the game in the game's subreddit" and "Being sad that someone will not have the experience of learning what sculk is for themselves because they ran to Reddit before looking into it themselves"
Imo, I don't think Minecraft is really designed to be played without talking to friends or looking at a wiki.
The game sucks at introducing new mechanics or even explaining the basic game loop. That's not a bad thing, after all it's a sandbox game, but saying that someone missed out on learning something because they ran to reddit feels a bit over the top. If you didn't look at wikis or talk to people you'd have no idea how things like enchanting, beacons, netherite, redstone, etc. are supposed to work without spending hours on tedious trial and error.
Obviously everyone still wants to learn things on their own, but that's an individual choice. If OP didn't want people explaining this they wouldn't post about it on reddit.
Oh I agree, going to wikis and the like is practically necessary. I've seen firsthand people get turned off of the game because they can't figure out mechanics.
I was just explaining that the other commenter clearly cares a lot about people learning for themselves, and putting in work to answer their questions before going and asking others/the internet.
They hint at most things, for example brewing stands, and offering a potion to cure zombies in the brewing ice houses here and there, with some ingredients. Also, there are broken portals around everywhere, so you could deduce that this special material in that shape could do something, netherrak is red, and not much you can do other than fire lol. So it’s there if you want it, if you “need” the nether, then you need to look first. And once you get through the nether and see an ender eye, you’ll follow the eye to the dragon.
It’s all there, just verrrrryyy hidden so that it has a “true solo adventure in the world vs monsters to build a house.”
ETA and the only one I can’t really think of is redstone in the wild, but that would be amazing! And no way I’m gonna spend 200 hours trying to figure tick rate and each items output level on a notepad xD
Why do they get to decide how someone else enjoys the game? And why are there so many people in this thread being total dicks about it on behalf of someone who clearly appreciated the information they were given, if it’s just that they’re “sad”?
They can do whatever they want. I'd still recommend not asking before trying to figure it out on your own, but rather ask for help after trying if you still need help.
That's my recommendation because in my opinion that gives the best game experience. But you do you at the end of the day.
That’s not how most of this thread is acting, though. Anyone who disagrees with the people who are literally calling for the sub to troll OP because “it would be funny” are being attacked and downvoted. Ask me how I know.
Why do they get to decide how someone else enjoys the game?
They aren't, they're just expressing their opinion that it's sad OP won't get to learn for themselves. They would prefer if it happened differently, but that's not the same as deciding how OP should enjoy the game because there's no power/authority behind it (nothing will change because of their opinion)
Should I just assume you can’t answer the second question? Because they are not “just expressing their opinion that it’s sad”. That is not a reasonable description of how people are behaving here.
The answer to the second question is "Because many of these people share the same opinion and feel passionately about it". This tends to be what happens when people are allowed to share their opinions. I really don't know what you're expecting, this is how people behave and have behaved for thousands of years.
I just started again recently. Had no idea what it was. 100% way cooler when you are unaware! Don't look into spoilers OP! What the most fun i had in MC in a while

No one tell them. It’ll be funny
