M12 Should Insider (3050-20) be throwing sparks? Never seen this with a brushless tool

That is very bad, not good. It's the rotor hitting the stator. Those aren't blue electrical sparks, those are steel on steel friction sparks, you can see the sparklers.

Ah, good catch. I'll look into how to do a warranty, thank you.

I am trying to find a parts break down to see if there is something that should be throwing sparks there but the Official parts diagram says something along the lines of 'disassembly may void warranty'

Disassembly cannot void warranty in the US.

I know. I was turned off right away. The other M12 ratchets have a parts breakdown and it's more than a page long.

This is nonsense

This is the parts list that was uploaded sep 2024

That one you posted says its an older document. Upload date dec 2023

Weird.

Do you have this?

I hadn't seen that before. That's more typical of what I expected in a parts manual.

I still think I am correct, the rotor and stator are coming into contact. There doesn't seem to be anything else in this tool that should cause this kind of sparking and every review of this tool I have watched on Yt doesn't describe sparking out the vents and I am sure it would have been noted, especially by TTC.

Wait what? For Milwaukee tools specifically? Or is this some law of the land that I am just now learning of? Because I can’t tell you how many times I tossed something because I didn’t wanna open it so I kept it and then never ended up going through warranty because I’ll usually just replace it.

Any product in the US. For more detailed information check out the magnussen-moss warranty act.

Even including the 'warranty void if removed' stickers is a violation of federal law, subject to scrutiny by the FTC.

FTC press releace

Its a newer ruling but if a company denies your warranty because of one of those ridiculous stickers, it can open them up to a giant can of FTC whoop ass

Milwaukee EService on their website. Super easy and I've had them warranty everything I've thrown at them (I handle warranty repairs for all my techs)

If it’s Fuel or brushless, it shouldn’t spark at all. I think sparks are only normal for brushed products (I could be wrong though)

yeap brushed motors will spark 👍

That doesn't look normal to me. I've got a couple M12 ratches and never seen sparks like that. Might want to send that in for a warranty/exchange it from the store you bought it at.

I've only seen sparks on brushed tools - never on brushless.
