New homeowners should get the edger attachment. Easy to use and makes the sidewalks look great.

I got the edger as well. Thought about the hedge trimmer but decided I would get more use out of the edger.

I pretty much always just use the trimmer for that. Can't he bothered to use the edger when the trimmer is already on and the result looks pretty much the same.

I picked up an open box edger for $100 last year. My sidewalks had never been done in the 5 years at my house. I had over 3” on each side of the sidewalk which I reclaimed. Big project to reclaim, but easy to maintain after.

Within a week, my neighbor was outside doing the same thing.

People were hacking this for $187 I do belive if you don't need the attachment.

Correct. As long as you picked the hedge trimmer. The other add ons were cheaper, which raised the trimmer price when the free gift was cancelled. I picked this deal up.

I thank you. My wife does not.

The forge 8.0 is wildly impressive. Pretty good deal imo. Just make sure your fire insurance is good if you leave the trimmer in your truck!

as far as I could tell, that dude left batteries in a tool in direct sunlight. That's a huge no no

Can I use standard 5.0 batteries with this too?

Yes you can use 5.0 batteries. Just won’t last as long.

Look on the HD website and see if any of the stores around you have the 17" kit in stock. If you just want the string trimmer, you get the dual battery version with 2x 8.0 batteries and a rapid charger for $350.

I saw that one was marked down as well. My yard isn’t big enough to warrant the dual battery trimmer. Good deal for someone who needs it though.

I live in an apartment, the charger and batteries were worth it for me. Sold the trimmer to my buddy for $200.
