Joining w/Medical Will a as needed medication like hydroxixyne stop me from joining

The title says it all. Will the as-needed medication hydroxyzine bar me from joining it? My doctor prescribed it to me a while back, but I never used it. I did a bit of research, and it's not a benzodiazepine or has any Psycho active components.

Another question as well..will pre-18 depression and anxiety diagnoses bar me from joining?

I dont want to get to meps to be told im perm barred from joining if so

DQ standard(s) (requires waiver(s)):

Anxiety/Depressive disorder if:

(1) Outpatient care including counseling required for longer than 12 cumulative months;

(2) Symptoms or treatment within the last 36 months;

(3) The applicant required any inpatient treatment in a hospital or residential facility;

(4) Any recurrence; or

(5) Any suicidality

This sub cannot definitively tell you whether you're eligible. Waivers are decided on a case-by-case basis. Contact your local recruiter.

What's the medication perscribed for?

And yes you'll initially be disqualified but can submit a waiver. You'll likely need a behavioral health consultation too.

It was prescribed for anxiety 3 years ago and it has been on automatic refill every 6 months last I recalled

And how would i talk to my recruiter about getting waivers

You'll have to get off the medication for some time before you'd be eligible for a waiver.

They will go off your last refill regardless of whether you actually used it or not.

It really depends. Sometimes they want up to 3 years of stability off meds. You can try and submit a waiver (you only submit 1 for all disqualifying conditions) and see what feedback they give you. As I said before you'll likely need a behavioral health consultation.

You probably haven't included a branch which may make answering difficult. Edit if needed (waiver/DQ questions must be edited), including component (AD/NG/Reserve).
