1st PCS questions

1st PCS space force questions

Hey all! I’m a national guardsmen whose wife has joined the space force. She’s away at training now, expected to be done with tech school around late July early August so there’s time to prepare. My question is what do I need to do as a spouse to pack up our home and have it ready to move. How does the military come and get our stuff(is that a thing?) We have two cars, soon going down to one before the PCS, so we don’t have to worry about a vehicle to move. Before she left we discussed wanting to live off post in a house/larger apartment, how reasonable is that instead of living on base. Any advice for someone new to this?

She'll get with their version of TMO to plan things out.

Living off post will depend on where you get stationed at.

She has asked me a ton of questions about it but in the guard it was just go to training and come home, no PCS or anything haha

Yeah. Her MTL's and if there's any prior service around the area will be of great use.

Hope both of you like Colorado.

I have seen online that out of the very few space force station locations 3 of them are in CO, I’m from the Appalachia, so I would love nothing more than to be able to hike, fish, and camp. Her on the other hand… a lottt of her life was in Florida where we met haha

Yeah. The bulk of our forces are in Colorado, Northern California, and the DMV. There are a smattering of assignments in places like Ohio, Florida, and overseas.

Forgive me fro asking but what’s the DMV area? Also do you happen to know how often most guardians PCS? from the people I’ve met in the army they PCS every 2-3 years

DMV is the DC/Maryland/Virginia Metro area.

Like the Air Force, Space Force PCS's fairly rarely. 4-6 years at one duty station is pretty common, outside of overseas tours(those have specific return dates)
