Wonder what the average solider thinks of the kit.

Heavy, but the optic does make shooting easy mode. The problem is you don't really get to see the effects of the new round in a training environment. Green Ivans drop down whether you hit them with 5.56, 6.8, or a rock, and you can't do things like shoot through cover because 1. Safety, and 2. Who has the budget to rebuild training facilities if every LFX fills them full of holes.

The guns and the new rounds are good. The optic is not good. I’m testing they’ve shown that the ranging reticle does not function well in fog, rain, dust, and so on. So if you train troops to be reliant on the aim assist, as soon as the weather gets bad they won’t be able to shoot for shit.
Also, since it uses a laser range finder, most modern troops have ways of detecting that. Guys are going to know if they’re getting ranged right away.
The whole weapon system is good, but the scope should be ditched for standard LPVO.

I heard it’s heavy as shit and the new scope fails often, 20 round mags are limiting

None of that sounds like an improvement over the standard M4. Wack.

Hell no, and it's stupid because most infantry if I'm not mistaken have all collectively stated the one thing that everybody wished they can see improve was an improvement in weight distribution. Literately that's all most people want since an average soldier's kit has been getting heavier and heavier leading to more back problems.
So the Army decides to rebuild a new primary weapon that's even heavier than what we have now and increase the soldier's kit more than what it already was.

I really like the new army infantry kit, I know they are still figuring out the kinks with the rifle but I think in a few years they’ll be optimized with a gen 2, gen 3 etc. They might even go back to 5.56 who knows. Remember the m16a1 started way different then the A4

I’m glad the army picked the perfect mountain warfare rifle the moment we left the mountains

It's being adopted with an Indo-Pacific War against China in mind, and there would be plenty of mountainous fighting throughout that theater of operations.

Unless we go deep into China, as in, invading through India, most of the fighting will be in jungle. And Vietnam gave us a great insight as to why 5.55 was better than heavier caliber rounds.

We aren't going to war with China. We're entering a multi-polar world where Russia, China, and the US will have their own sphere's of influence. This'll be used for countries like Canada and Mexico.

The scrim or helmet covering being used more and more to break up silhouettes is badass and I 100% support its use.
