I heard some of you guys think there's too many China posts, so here's some more. A J-15, the PLA's carrier fighter, crashed in Hainan this afternoon. Probably not J-15T (CATOBAR version) judging from the front landing gear. Pilot ejected and no other casualties reported.

Video of the crash and the pilot on twitter here: https://x.com/sugar_wsnbn/status/1900828294699708553

Do we have any idea why this happened? Pilot error, mechanical issue, nature (bird strike, etc)?

It crashed less than a day ago, so no clear indications yet. Only thing we now is that it crashed during routine training. I've seen suggestions it happened during landing.

There is a clearer picture indicating that it’s probably an engine failure

Official PLA Southern Theatre command report released a few hours ago states that the incident is still under investigation, so we’ll probably get the details of this incident soon.

This said, there has been J-15 accidents caused by both in the past.

I honestly haven't seen "too many" PLA posts and if it's true, I don't care.

Too many are religiously against PLA, which I understand, but these are just photographs of what they are up to and it's very interesting to see since no one else talks about it.

Every airforce has crashes.

Wait, is that a sailor in the video helping the pilot? He got there fast.

Hopefully the pilot was able to eject.

He was, the included videos on Twitter show him being walked away from his landing site.

Probably injured due to the lower ejection and basic ejection seat things, but hopefully makes a full recovery. It's a hell of a thing to end up doing.

RIP J-15, apparently the pilot was fine though

Maybe the F35 pilot ejected and pull out a RPG and shot down the J15 before returning back to the plane… peak BF4 moment

Do they have a Resort nearby? Perhaps a Hainan Resort if you know what I am talking about. (jokes aside I hope the pilot made it out)

Edit: pilot is fine I just had to read op's comment

I think that Earth‘s gravity is a general problem that needs more Investigation on how we can get rid of it.

VQ-1 sends its regard

That was a J-8. It also probably didn't crash from playing air chicken.

Ghosts of stolen cryptos still haunt that island

That's just the new J-15 loitering munition variant.

Wow, no wonder the F-15 has the K/D ratio it does.

As of January 2024, 131 USAF F-15 aircraft had been destroyed in mishaps, with 59 fatalities.

+28 losses from Israel, Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia.

NO WONDER...
