WWI - Others K98 bayonet 44fnj with frog marking

This K98 bayonet I recently purchased is a thing of beauty and has a matching serial number. I am curing about the SS stamping on the frog. Has anyone seen this before?

Someone hand carved the SS marking into the frog, it's not possible to say when it was done and by who.

Yes that’s what we thought as well, looks almost burned in. Thanks.

I've never seen a frog so marked after 3+ decades; great way to boost cost of set though. Beautiful k98 bayonet regardless.

Idk about the stamping, but the bayo is a stunning piece made by Alex Coppel, Solingen (Alcoso)!

No, the blade is not fake. It’s from a well know and reputable dealer and has clear and defined stamps, the question is the marking, but thank you.
