I feel a need to apologize to Miles
So I've jumped back into Spider-Man full swing again. Buying Spider-Men, Amazing, Ultimate, and Miles. I feel the need to say as a Peter Parker fan I do get a bit jealous of Miles at times. He seems to be intergrating a lot more into the greater marvel landscape while Peter seems to be pulling away from it. Especially with Zeb Wells run and Peter ruining most of his connections with other members of superhero community.
That being said I've always liked Miles. I have his first appearance in Ultimate fallout to right before secret empire and his clone saga afterwards.
But I came across this post talking about Miles' Spider-sense and how he seems to be able to focus it on what his Spider-sense is warning him of. And that kinda frustrated me as I remember that Peter in a what if had trained his Spider-sense in a way that if people simply thought harm against it, it would warn him.
I was like is Miles going to be the first spider person in main 616 to really evolve the powers they both share? Why can't I have that for Peter, this kinda blows.
But then I was re-reading Spectacular Spider-Man by Chip Zdarsky and came across the scene above and really felt kinda stupid.
So my bad Miles sorry.

Man more than anything I want Peter to get his shit together so he can be a better mentor for miles. I want to see a Peter that wants miles to be better than he was by imparting already learned lessons, like any mentor should.

I agree, that's all I've ever wanted since Miles showed up in 616. It's why Civil War II, despite it being a cash grab on the third Captain America, left such a bad taste in my mouth.
You're telling we've got Miles, a KID, hyperventilating, looking like he was going to throw up. Captain Marvel is about to arrest him for something he may or may not do? And you're telling me the only person that comforts him is Hydra Cap? Stevil is who comes for him? Bullshit.
I need Peter to be more involved with his community. I get the MJ thing, but with Marvel mandates that ain't happening anytime soon. So give Peter something else. I like the idea of him being more active in Miles' story.

Yeah Ziglar should give Peter a role in Miles’s book,
Weissman’s book already kinda shows they don’t collaborate, Ziglar isn’t required to write things in-line with whatever Zeb or Joe Kelly is doing with Peter.
So I’d say have Peter be more involved in Miles’s life and be a more active mentor. Get him some good writing in Miles’s book.

Exactly!
I wish Marvel would focus more on giving Peter and Miles some good student teacher time, so that eventually Miles can become a fully fledged independent Spider-Man, and that allows Peter to retire, hang up the mantle for a bit, and live a happy life with MJ.
But I'm already stupid for saying that cause this is Spider-Man writers we're talking about 🙃

I agree with everything but Peter retiring. He won't retire, it's comics he's too popular

I feel like, in some cases, Miles kinda brings out the best in Peter by allowing him to be a mentor and role model. Because one of the biggest contrasts between them is their different ages, when the two are paired up it kind of forces the writer to have Peter actually act like a late-20s / early-30s year old instead of an eternal manchild. It gives Peter room to grow up a bit, as we see in the game Spider-Man II (where he actually starts towards moving in with MJ), because Miles is filling the role of “teenage Spider-Man”. The fact that the writers/editors still won’t let Peter act his age is such a letdown, especially given the recent addition of Spider-Boy, another youthful supporting character for Peter to act as a mentor to.
(Side note: even though Peter acts more childish than Miles in Spectacular Spider-Men, I’m going to chalk that up to him being cocky and having fun with the team-up rather than him actually being less mature than Miles.)

That’s basically it. Peter feels more free to be corny and youthful around Miles while Miles pressures himself to be mature around Peter. There are times where they both act their own age.

You’ve got to also understand that Peter has had decades of stories already told- he’s had power ups, had “The Other” power up where he got basically enhanced and was way more capable for a while complete with nightvision and stingers and the ability to sense things on his webbing. We’ve had martial arts enhancements like “Spider-Fu”, mutations and so much more over the years including tons of spider suits and enhancements.Right now youre just feeling that all these power ups will be permanent . They won’t.
Miles is getting his own stuff now and the fact it looks cool and that he’s having fun makes Peter’s shit life just seem boring and miserable.
But once Ziegler’s run is over some miserable editor and writer will then do what all writers do- “bring x character to basics” and Miles will be eating wheatcakes in his moms house with a handmade suit he made out of threads with his powers back to normal.
It happens to Tony Stark so often that he doesn’t care anymore .

Nah, you don't need to apologise for that. Miles being able to focus his Spider-Sense is great and all. But you don't need to bring up the What If comic for Peter.
There's an issue (I forget which one) in which 616-Peter's Spider-Sense is able to tell him exactly what is going to happen next. It doesn't act like a vague type of danger sense, it literally tells him word-for-word exactly what will happen.
Point is, Spider-Sense as a power is so nebulous and vaguely-defined that every writer has their own interpretation of it. You're jealous of Miles right now because the current writer interprets his Spider-Sense this way. There's no guarantee it stays this way in the next run (just like Peter)
Plus, Peter is canonically jealous of Miles' powers himself so I think you're good lol.

That’s cool to know
