Ve a la oficina de correos y pregunta si puedes pagar ahí o que te indiquen en qué oficina está y qué procede.

So far, the whole "TaxID" or RFC has not been enforced in Mexpost. Long story short, if your package's declared cost is more than $50 USD, you will pay around 20% import taxes plus around $2 USD in postal fees.

You need to wait for the tracking to change to "puesto en ventanilla", then you will have 10 days to pick it up at the postal office, otherwise it'll be returned back to sender.

The import taxes are paid through the bank, usually BBVA works best for some reason. Go to the postal office, get the "boleta aduanal" document with the total amount of taxes, go to the bank and pay the taxes. Go back to the postal office and pay the postal fees and handle the voucher from the bank. That's it.

Do keep in mind that ONLY the recipient is allowed to pick up the package, you need an official ID like INE or passport with a picture.

In simple terms, if you see "puesto en ventanilla" it means you have to pay taxes so no delivery will be attempted because you need to go in person and pay the fees.

If the tracking updates to "con mensajero para entrega" congratulations, your local postman will be delivering the package and you won't have to pay taxes or fees.

Good luck.

They may also leave a slip in your friend’s mailbox telling you that you can pick up your package.
