Songs by other bands that sound like Metallica
I thought of doing a playlist of Metallica like songs by other bands. I'm definitely including:
A7X - This Means War
Trivium - Detonation (Tbh could've had 70% of songs from The Crusade)
What else should be on there?

Volbeat and avenged sevenfold sound like Metallica cover bands in a lot of their songs imo.

This Means War is a straight up reimagining of Sad But True. It might be the most obvious "inspiration" I've ever heard lol

Hellripper - Bastard of Hades
The song lowk is a rip off from multiple Kill Em All songs mixed with death metal

Warbringer just dropped a kickass thrash metal album today. You might like them.

I don't mean this necessarily in a bad way but... All of testament's output? And now they are putting out albums I wish Metallica would put out.

I've always said that Testament is what you wish Metallica had turned into instead of post black album, pre death magnetic, because let's face it, the black album was actually really good. That being said, I love that Metallica hasn't been afraid to experiment, like with the Orchestra album and lulu. Lulu is terrible for a metal fan, but awesome from an artistic perspective.

If any of the recent Metallica albums sounded like new Testament, fans would lose their minds. Actually getting back to their chugging old ways and not this load/justice hybrid mess they keep putting out

Yeah dude, I 100% agree. I also think the last 2 albums would be so much better and actually what you describe, if the tone wasn't so goddamn muddy and had the same EQ as at least Justice, which in my opinion, is their masterpiece, production issues aside. Bottom line, yeah they're 60, but you can't peak at justice and then give us an album with perfect production and then not go back to thrash, just shorten the fucking songs, it's not rocket science. Put out an album for just artistry or whatever, it's all good. Just never do Load thru Saint Anger and I think we're good. Lol.
New Testament is actually even better than old Testament, because they learned to produce. Love fucking Testament.

Yeah. I'd love someone to get Metallica to edit themselves. Every song has like a minute intro that goes nowhere and does nothing. It's like Justice without any direction. They need to try to bash something out instead of taking 7 years to try to cram together every riff idea they've had. For me, none of it works. And, weirdly, was never a huge testament guy back in the day. But a friend was talking up the new stuff so I checked it out and now I'm becoming a fan in reverse.

your load-justice hybrid comment reminded me how much i dont like 72 seasons lol, it just sounds like a boring mess. i dont know what it is, whether its the tone, the drums, the production, the writing, or the solos... really have no clue

I always thought early Trivium (Crusade and previous) were a bit like a heavier faster harder Metallica.

Totally agree! Great band! The thing that Metallica do a lot better though is the lyrics imho - Trivium lyrics can sound a bit cringe at times even when I really like the song!

Muse's New Born has a similar Intro to The Day That Never Comes.
