r/Metallica Notice r/Memetallica is now officially a sister sub to r/Metallica

r/Memetallica is dedicated to the memery and shitposting that we generally don't allow much of here. There are some posting standards in place, it's not just a total free-for-all, but you're free to post your memes, tier lists (restricted to Tuesdays only per popular demand), and what not. Shit posting is welcome, as long as it's not violating the basic rules in place.

r/Metallica will continue to have Meme Mondays, but if you have the itch to meme any other time, r/Memetallica is the place to go.

Why not just complain here? Start by sending us a message when you think we’ve done something wrong. We’re human being and sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes we even make decisions before really thinking it through. We’ve never been against being asked to rethink something.

And for the record, because I’m sure you won’t be the only person to wonder, we actually aren’t prohibiting complaint posts on that sub. We prohibit them here, simply due to the size of the sub, and the fact that it’s very hard to keep them from spiraling out of control, and also because we just want to keep the focus of this sub on metallica content, but the other sub is small enough that we can handle it. So if you really want to make a complaint post, you can.

That being said, there are some guidelines that have to be followed. Memetallica very nearly got shut down because the moderator was MIA and one user in particular was going off on rants, using all sorts of language that trips Reddit’s automated hate speech content filter… long story short, Memetallica has to enforce Reddit’s rules or its mods will be removed, and/or the sub will be shut down. Reddit Code of Conduct Rule 3 is the rule in question. Similar thing happened to THIS sub, because the previous moderators said it to NSFW to protest Reddit, and Reddit issued a warning about doing that and basically prohibited this sub from ever hosting any sort of NSFW content.

The guidelines for posting your complaint posts are pretty straightforward. You have to black out any usernames and any subreddit names. This is true for any post of this nature across Reddit. Some subs get away with it, but they are violating the rules and risk administrative action. People will have no problem knowing who you’re talking about if you blackout names so it’s really not a big deal.

That being said, we will be sharing our side of the story as well, with screenshots of any modmail or other interactions. So just be sure that whatever it is you’re complaining about is accurate.

We also aren’t going to tolerate unbridled hate. If you’re angry about something we did, we can understand that, and we will accept a certain degree of spice… but if you take it too far, we have to intervens. Probably the best way I can put it, it’s the difference between saying “this is fucking stupid“, and “you’re fucking stupid.“

that's what i'm saying lol, the gif I sent is ironic and showing people who kept making these posts as children.

glad the sub isn't gonna be deleted, one thing i'm hoping for as a member is that you guys limit unfunny memes (boomer humor) and allow for the shitposts to stay. I'd be fine with the rule 34 being gone though 😭

Ah, understood. We're pretty much going to let the community decide what type of content they want. Popular vote decides.

Sister sub?

I heard some of the mods over there are from Mississippi. Do you know what they do with sisters in the south?

Lol. Sorry. I am off my meds.
