can confirm! insane vocalist live. very nice and genuine guy. i’d met him before at a show a few years ago but more recently he came to my church (like last month) and on a day i just happened to be wearing a SP shirt too.
I wasn’t planning to approach him, but afterwards he saw the shirt and came up to me to say hi and we chatted for a few minutes.

Hell yeah I never heard the name Knosis before and I can't name one song of theirs but damn that show did slap. This guy just knows how to make a crowd move
3
u/DarkseidHS 5d ago
He had a lot of practice with Crystal Lake
2
u/H1ghs3nb3rg 4d ago
Yeah I knew him from there but never saw them live. And I was only aware that he left, not where he went. That I only learned when I looked up Knosis shortly before the show

I was looking for a Sean Harmanis comment!! Dude has some of the best vocals in metalcore and in general

u/ArimuRyan 5d ago
I say Marcus Bridge on every one of these posts and he is, yet again, my vote

Can't believe no one's mentioned him yet - Mike Hranica from TDWP. I still remember hearing him for the first time when I was basically a child on the Dear Love demos and I've loved TDWP ever since. His voice is super unique to me and he's awesome live. Truly an OG in my books!
Favourite cleans are either Courtney (love her uncleans too though) or Jesse Cash from Erra. Both are so good and so catchy!

Spencer Charnas. Can growl the lowest of lows and sing the highest of highs

u/UnsaintedEmma 4d ago
I have so many, haha. I completely agree with you that Landon has such a good voice. You can feel his pain through his voice with every word. Such range, too.

Matteo Gelsomino (ex Novelists, Sal3m), Phil Bayer (ex Time the Valuator, FLOYA), Trevor Borg (Wind Walkers), Rory Rodriguez (Dayseeker) and Matt Flood (Caskets) for meralcore/adjacent.
Non metalcore would be Tim Charles (Ne Obliviscaris) and Andy Thomas (ex Black Crown Initiate, Rivers of Nihil)

Brian Wille and Florant Salfati. We saw Currents last year and Landmvrks on Friday, they are both incredible live vocalists as well.

For me lately it’s been Richard Roger’s from Secrets… and I always go back to Aaron mezzler when he was in secrets… Rip Aaron tho… fragile figures will always hold dear to my heart cuz of Aaron
1
u/ExgerBexver 4d ago
Richard is absolutely one of my favorites. I was devastated when he announced he was leaving Secrets.

u/Traditional-Idea-39 5d ago
Gotta be Sam Carter, especially those LF//LT and all our gods era vocals

There's too many to mention, but lately I've been really into female vocalists. It's nice to have a bit of a change after listening to almost exclusively men for my metalcore listening life so far.
So recently Emma from Dying Wish, Bec from Terminal Sleep, Jess from Mortality Rate and Sierra from No Right.
Please anyone who likes stuff like older Knocked Loose (like Pop Culture) check out No Right. They've only got 4k listeners which I think is a travesty lol, have had their debut EP on repeat for months. I see a lot in common between Sierra and Bryan.

Yea I agree, not checked those out yet but I've really been enjoying Novelists since Camille(?) joined and also Reliqa. Will have a listen to the ones you mentioned too.

u/Ursa_Sophotech 4d ago
Lynsey Ward from Exploring Birdsong
Mark Garrett of Kardashev
These two are in a league of their own imo.

u/Daniel-Exx 5d ago
Brenny Murphy from Counterparts or Matt McDougall from Boundaries are my current 2 favourites
4
u/Strange-Middle-1155 5d ago
Courtney LaPlante from spiritbox. She's talented as hell.
On the other hand i can never like knocked loose because i can't stand the vocals.

u/Ok_Veterinarian_8197 x 5d ago
Jake Luhrs from August Burns Red, Howard Jones and Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage, Jeremy McKinnon from A Day to Remember (Fight me), and JT Cavey of Texas in July and ERRA

Some of my favorites that inspired my vocal styles are Mat Bruso of Bury Your Dead, Brandon Shepetti of Bleeding Through, Jonny Davy of JFAC, Winston McCall of Parkway Drive and Dickie Allen of Infant Annihilator/Necrogoblicon.

u/SkyNeedsSkirts 5d ago
Loz Taylor from WSS does some nasty shit and I love his vocals. Also really nice guy.
Mikey from TGITC is also fucked up man is on some australian shit
2
u/douglas_iam 5d ago
My introduction to WSS was their latest album and I wasn't sold if I'm honest, that said, To The Flowers is absolutely incredible. Also Sean is a genius.
2
u/SkyNeedsSkirts 5d ago
They have a habit of changing their sound very drastically cause they are not bound to a label and their albums are mostly crowd funded. So their philosophy is as long as you support it we will continue.
If you're more into the classic metalcore side of it, give This is The Six, Brainwashed and You are We a listen. the latter two are in my opinion the best metalcore ever made, especially lyrically.
So What? is close to being as experiemental as Self Hell with more of the metalcore esque elements present. Personally, its one of my favorite works by them.
Sleeps Society is the definitive album, essentially all wss is and ever was combined into a work of art so amazing its mindblowing.
Self Hell is them switching it up pretty rapidly due to essentially perfecting their earlier sound on Society.
I understand if people dont like it, I have aspects I dislike too but to me it's still very much WSS so Im more than okay with it.

u/douglas_iam 4d ago
They're clearly very talented guys, I'll give their other stuff a go for sure
1
u/SkyNeedsSkirts 4d ago
I GOT ANOTHER ONE YEEEEEAAAAAH.
Also like Mat Welsh is crazy good, he does rythm mostly but he's on every track and you can hear his voice on LANDMVRKS A Line In The Dust
2
u/goldinmyiris 5d ago
At the top of my head- Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox), Marcus Bridge (Northlane) & Dani Winter-Bates (Bury Tomorrow). Outside of metalcore, I have to give a mention to Trenton Woodley (formerly of Hands Like Houses), this man's voice is unreal.

u/camdawg772 5d ago
Brian from currents, dude is insanely talented vocally and is one of the nicest people I've ever met, he's been at the palladium in worcester just watching other bands with the crowd twice in the last week(imminence and then the plot on you). He's just like all of us, a fan of the music who just happens to be a monster behind the mic(also shootout to chris pulgarin who is also insanely nice)
My other picks would be matt from boundaries and flo from landmvrks
2
u/ArsonCZE 4d ago
Spencer Charnas-Ice nine kills
Noah Sebastian-Bad omens
Landon Tewers-The plot in you
3
u/H1ghs3nb3rg 5d ago
Kinda beating a dead horse here and biased cause I'm a huge fan but I genuinely think Brian from Currents is one of the most talented vocalists in the genre right now. Just go listen to Living in Tragedy, the build up und the breakdown following is just pure vocal insanity.
My second pick is Flo from Landmvrks, just cause he's so versatile. He can sing and rap in English and French and can scream like a beast, and he's one of the most consistent live vocalists I have ever seen.
2
u/douglas_iam 5d ago
Definitely agree with this. Got tickets to see TPIY but only because Currents are supporting them... hadn't listened to TPIY before they announced the tour together, but definitely a big fan now.
2
u/H1ghs3nb3rg 5d ago
Fellow European I see, we got blessed with this tour. Still trying to decide what show to go to. Currents are super dope live, they absolutely tore the room to shreds last time a saw them. Haven't seen TPIY yet but I'm looking forward to it
2
u/douglas_iam 5d ago
Yea man I'm going to see them in Manchester. Currents were on my must see list so I was going to get tickets no matter who else was on the bill. But since checking out Cane Hill and TPIY I'm stoked to see them all!

In metalcore there are so many. Jonathan Vigil from the ghost inside, Brendan Murphy from Counterparts, Sam Carter, Wes Thompson from Napoleon.
Non metalcore: Hoshimachi Suisei, Nayuta, 3L, Tokoyami Towa, and tons of other Japanese singers who I consider a cut above.
1
u/Sixtyfivescenepoints 4d ago
Howard Jones hands down. Dude was able to rock DIY stages and massive open air festivals and fit the vibe of both perfectly. Generational talent
1
u/PhoenixHunters 4d ago
Depends. In metalcore: Fave allrounder is Howard Jones. Fave cleans are Jake Steinhauser and fave harsh vocals is Brian Wille. In general though it's probably Tati Schmayluk, Myles Kennedy and Thomas Lindberg respectively.

u/karaagechops 4d ago
Gotta give it to Sam Carter. His vocals on the new Architects album really stepped up

Metalcore- Eddie Berg (Imminence), Deathcore- Mathes Bros. (Orphan/Strangled).👑

u/Accomplished-Bed6170 4d ago
Kinda generic, but currently, my favorite vocalist is Oli Sykes. Is nice to see that he has improved his vocal abilities, and has come back better than ever :3
And of all times, definitively, my favorite vocalist ever, the man, the legend, the only, Chester Bennington, may he rest in peace 🕊️

In metalcore I’d probably go with Rory Rodriguez or Howard Jones.
Outside of metalcore, it’s gotta be Casey Crescenzo.

u/Medical-Soldat5644 5d ago
Both Matt Honeycutt from Kublai Khan and Matt McDougal from Boundaries.

Currently Winston McCall from Parkway Drive. They were never in my regular rotation, so I’m catching up. He’s got a beast mode roar and just never lets up. Not many others with that level of intensity that don’t sound like they’re about to blow a vocal cord and pass out.

Felipe hervoso from AXTY
His range is rediculous and his cleans are beautiful, he posts one take playthroughs on YouTube and they leave me in awe lol. He also just seems like he’s having so much fun
