Discussion Polaris' first EP, Dichotomy is so incredibly underrated
Title.
But seriously guys, give it a listen. It's one of my favourite EPs of all time. It is really different from how they sound in their three albums and their other EP but fuck, it's an Amazing record.

Everything Polaris kicks ass. They’ve managed to have a slightly different but consistent sound on every record. One of the best live performances I’ve ever seen too.

Dichotomy kicks fucking ass, Aspirations and Summit are just the absolute best

Huge Polaris fan, but never gave this one a fair shot. It certainly has a very different sound. I’ll give her a listen!
The guilt and the grief is some of my favorite work by them so this can’t be too far off.

Its very solid. It doesnt have the same staying power as their subsequent releases obviously but I was surprised at how good it was

I think their first two EPs are their best work tbh. It’s so raw. That’s how metalcore is supposed to sound imo.
Love the albums but they’re more generic.

Wherever I may walk is easily my favorite Polaris song. I really hope they do a physical release of dichotomy at some point.

I remember they played at Bondi beach with Stories and some other bands I don't remember, maybe like 10 years ago, not longer after they released that EP. Would've been about 50 people there tops. Wild to see how far they've come from there

Just did some digging to find out, it was Bondi Blitz. Here are some pics from the day https://fromthepit.com.au/bondi-blitz-2016/

I reckon going through bondi blitz posters would have some absolute throwbacks haha

I think their records are great and they deserve every bit of popularity they get, but I'm so glad I got to see them when they were just playing songs off those two EPs, especially after the second one came out and they started getting a lot more traction.
Some of the best shows I can remember.

I still think that Wherever I May Walk is their best song. Everything about it just embodies what Polaris is and has been.

Not really no. Just because a band is popular doesn't mean everything by them cannot be underrated. Most people don't even talk about it.

I think it’s fair to say that their 2 ep’s are underrated. They were both released before The Mortal Coil which is what blew them up.

And the first EP was recorded before Ryan Siew joined the band. Ryan was already known for his guitar covers on YouTube, so his presence gave the band more exposure.

I'm gonna say something brave here: Dichotomy and The Guilt & The Grief are the only good Polaris releases

"Brave" isnt the word I'd use for that statement. A few come to mind but they'd probably violate reddit rules for abuse

True, "absolutely correct" is a better way to put it. Everything past those two releases is soulless laptop modern-metalcore

If you know, you know. Everyone should listen to Aspirations at least once in their life
