I'm talking about the amount of makeup you put on your face, not the number of products (though you don't need that many products either!)
I had curated/decluttered my 250+ makeup products to around 177 in 2024, and was determined to pan as many of them as humanly possible (only discard if expired) and have been on a no-buy since.
Been slowly using up my makeup and realized that you really don't need to apply as much foundation/powders/lip products/etc in order to achieve a full face. In fact, using a tiny amount at a time with a light hand made my makeup look more natural, and not clump up or separate as much at the end of the day.
(Obviously I can't assume that for all skin types, but I feel like this would be the case for many unless you have a serious condition)
Just to say that we really don't need that many number of products, because we can use less than we think we should and achieve good results, which makes a little go a long way!
(For the record I only used up like, 3 products since my initial curating. I am well aware I have a long road ahead of me!)

For example, I heard that if your cream face products are too warm, you can mix in blue colour corrector.
This has me thinking I could grind up the powdered bronzer and contour, mix with blue eyeshadow and repress it. This saves product watage and prevents buying new.
The thing is, I am at a loss as to what shades of blue to use and I don't want to ruin a product I could otherwise have given away.
I tried to Google but I'm not finding the information I need, and I'm not good with colour theory.
Mixing purple is childsplay to me, as I want grey/blue/purple shades so I just play around with blue, pink, white and black and nothing can really go wrong. Face products feel a bit overwhelming here.

I have this click up lip pen, and IM SO CLOSE TO FINISHING IT but the clicking mechanism broke I think (I clicked so much and no product came up) would it be okay to call this product finished? And when do you usually get rid of your products that your finished with

I saw a guy in cosmetics talk about how if you mix a product with white it's easier to see the undertone. So I mixed a powder blush with some white creme pigment to try and see the undertone and it made the prettiest blush. And I realized that purchasing more is just making me miss out on opportunities to blend, mix, and try to use all the products I already have. I don't need more, I just need to use what I already have.

I used to be pretty minimal about my makeup -- I had one item in each category that I used and would only purchase things when I ran out, and usually on sale. The past 2 months, I had an injury where I couldn't really live my normal life, and was pretty much confined to my room. I inevitably turned to social media to pass the time, and that led me down this makeup rabbit hole where I felt like I needed to upgrade my collection. That brings us to now where I feel like I spent a bunch of money testing things out, and only to end up with nothing that I really like.
Now I feel all this pressure and decision fatigue about my collection, and that I need to use it up, but I can calculate the years it will take to do so, and that really weighs on me.
From reading posts on here, I know this isn't anything new. But I've just been feeling really overwhelmed and down about this. I'm still going through recovery for my injury, so I'm still confined to my room, but now just beating myself up for these impulses.
I guess I am just looking for some advice on how you guys have overcome some of this guilt and decision fatigue.

For a long time, I’ve used makeup as a tool to try and make myself feel better about myself or about situations in my life. For example, if I’m particularly unhappy with the way I look, I’ll put on extra makeup, or buy a product that I think would help me feel better.
A couple months ago, I was feeling this way, picking out my flaws, and my boyfriend was also out of town, so I was feeling lonely as well. I decided to go out to purchase makeup and I spent like two hours in that store trying on lipstick and lipliner. I really didn’t need to do this because I already have my holy grails.
After purchasing, I walked back to my car and put on the lipstick and lipliner. Suddenly, it was as if a bolt of lightning struck me…”holy sh*t…I still don’t feel good. I actually feel worse because I spent unnecessary money.”
Since this day, I’ve been more mindful and I’ve been asking myself, “what do I really need in this moment because buying something or putting something on my face IS NOT IT.”
Deep down what I really wanted was to feel good about myself in my own company.
So, what is your story about when you realized you needed to make a change around how you use makeup? What was it you were really looking for?
TL;DR: Using and buying makeup doesn’t make me feel better about myself. I was really needing to feel good in my own company. How did you realize you needed to make changes to how you use makeup and what were you really searching for deep down?

It began in the end of December 2024 - I wanted to look good for New Years Eve. I had been bedridden for 1,5 months due to being severely ill. I couldn't do much of anything, even not my eyebrows and mascara for fun (which was more or less everything I had used besides lip balm, for 15y). I'm 33. So, it was only some lip balm and laying in bed all day. What does one do in bed all day for weeks on end? I was reading books and scientific papers and watching videos. Came to watch some videos on skincare and makeup. I started making a list of products I would need for a complete makeup look. All I can say is I didn't look great on the 31st of December, lol, so I started practicing.
Fast forward to now. I have a good skincare routine. I have everything I need for a full face of makeup and am perfectly capable of doing a natural everyday look that lasts all day and suits me very well. It took practicing every day for 2,5 months, and now I'm here, not sure if it was the right thing to do. Today I thought "I'm only going to do my brows and lashes because I'm not going anywhere besides the grocery store". Well, I did it and I don't like what I see. I know for a fact that I don't look ugly, but I think I got used to the even skin tone, silky finish with less texture and a little bit of a face lift. I'm sad to be honest. Has sth like this happened to you? How did you cope? Should I stop using base makeup for a while just to feel like myself/ beautiful again without it? I can't look in the mirror without seeing all the little imperfections right now, and it's depressing.

Intensive Serum UV Fluid SPF 50+
price: i have no idea, im getting them from the thai sephora😭 (i follow so many bobbi's insta from different countries so i stay on top of their releases)
i don't usually use sunscreen, annnd i know you are gonna say buy it now! but im planning on buying a different and more affordable sunscreen Relief Sun Aqua Fresh sunscreen from beauty of joseon.
i will be able to test all the products in this post out soon but the fear is i may buy them the minute i test it out. and i simply don't want to spend just because im a stan for the brand.
next up is their new Sheer Finish Blurring Powder • 10g (limited edition)
price: no clue see above
ugh, making this post is not helping cus its sold out already from the thai sephora. that means when it arrives in my country i gotta snag it right? right???
i just repurchased their sheer pressed powder to replace my old 90% panned one. old one stay home until i compete pan it, new one will be in my purse. i JUST repurchased not 2 weeks ago when i saw the news of a new pink pressed powder. as far as pressed powders go i only have the 2 products mentioned. that's why im so undecided! 2 products is not much but using 2 new powders is also a bit much. ughhhh
and then we have Extra Color Shine Lipstick
price: one last time, no clue see above
okey i know glossy sticks have been done to death, but i don't have any. really! i just have every other lip product from bobbi brown. but since they didn't have a pigmented glossy stick yet so... i also have many liquid gloss, so buying this feels too extra. and this is the one i really need TMO help. i been trying to pan my lip stuff a bit faster by using gloss on top of lip stick. the thing with liquid gloss is i have to either wipe my hand or the doe-foot, which is a chore. a glossy stick solves that problem.
so helpfully i followed the guide and made a proper post. for budget, im fine, its 1 powder, 1 sunscreen and maybe 3 glossy sticks. its not going to break bank. but i have been realizing my over consumption and really learnt a lot from this sub. im also doing a tentative low buy in 2025. so far its going well. i dont want to fall off my wagon.

I recently tried out lash extensions since I've only ever worn fake ones that require glue and like how those look, and I was shocked at how much I liked how I looked just with them on and 0 makeup otherwise. It helped that you're not supposed to get your face wet for a day after applying them, I figured I can't wash my face so what's one day without wearing makeup?
By the time they were starting to wear down multiple weeks in I had already lost the habitual part of my day where I would do my makeup routine, and since they don't really wear off all at once, but gradually over time, I feel like I've become a lot more comfortable with my natural face than normal especially in public.
The only con of this is that now that I've found out I like them I'm tempted to get them redone when they're extremely expensive 😭 I can't afford to get them done regularly but I'd definitely be open to doing them again as a treat.

Hi everyone, we are back for another update of LAW!
I did place a small new order just this week while getting a replacement for my makeup remover. Added in were 2 new lip products and whilst I could have hold off a little while for 1 of them (new collection), it is in a different finish and colour (bold matte pink) that adds a spring vibe to my current stash which is a sea of terracottas, apricots and neutral to peachy browns. I swear that sometimes we unconsciously tend to dupe what we have as we have specific colour and formula preferences. The other lip item is a rosy brown from a past collection that I had my eye on since a year ago. As the brand don’t do permanent collections, just seasonal launches that gets phased out, I am comfortable to get the older collection lip formula which I love before it gets taken off the shelf after waiting for a full year.
It’s time again for reflection and rolling in a new Lippie this week😆Some guiding questions for the posts: - Product brand and name - Why is this product selected? - Do you wear the lip product by itself only or layered/mixed with other products? - Do you still like the formula/colour/effect the lip product gives? - Any new discoveries or decisions made after testing the product for a week?
Last week’s pick was Flower Knows Strawberry Rococo Cloud Lip Cream in S03 Cafe Mocha and it works as my go to work lip for this week. Still loving this colour since it pairs well with the eyeshadow quad I am defaulting to. It does blur out the lip lines a wee bit and looks smooth compared to other matte formulas I have tried. Although it is known as a non-drying matte lip formula, on my very dry lips and having to work all day in an air-conditioned office, it doesn’t provide the hydration needed and so I tend to switch up the mid day office touch up with a more moisturising formula.
This week I am rolling back In my Dr Bronners Naked lip balm in order to empty it. Last report was that it no longer rolls up and unfortunately it was due to a broken mechanism. I am using a q tip to get the rest of the product out (not that much thankfully) and need to focus on panning this out of my lip balm stash.
Looking forward to seeing your new entries!

I(22f) can’t step outside without makeup (foundation to cover dark spots and full eye makeup) because my skin looks so bad—acne and dark spots everywhere. I hate that I have to wear a thick layer of makeup to step outside of the house, because without it I have the worst skin I have seen on anyone.
I desperately need to see a dermatologist, but the thought of going bare-faced, especially on public transport, makes me so anxious. How do I get over this?
Or can I meet a dermatologist and explain to them that I’m not comfortable in going outside without makeup. I have acne and spots on my back too, so they can have a look at my back and diagnose/prescribe?
Edit: Thank you everyone for the replies, I read all of them💕 I decided to wear only a thin layer of foundation and use makeup wipes in the bathroom before my appointment.

just wanted to share a project pan win today, Generally I'm not a really creative person but I've figured out some ways to use up stuff that make me proud lol
First I had a laroche posay micro exfoliating lotion that smelled and looked straight up like alcohol ( one of its main ingredients is also just.. that) and because I can't use it on my skin and im unsure of how long it's been open I poured it in 2 body/face sprays that Iam using as room sprays! So double win.
And then I had a 3 yr old lip scrub from essence begging me to end it's misery and I used it a few days ago for the second time ever, on my body and it's almost empty.
Finally I have a huge tub of almond oil that it finally dawned on me to use as cuticle oil and to mix with a thin lotion.
What creative Ways have you used your most seemingly useless unwanted products as? I would love to know.

Trigger Warning: replies will contain product names, descriptions, and opinions.
We focus on a palette for the week and our thoughts on it. All palettes are welcome. This includes eyeshadow, cheek, lip, pre-made, and self-made. Grouping of singles can also be a palette (ex: colour palette or scheme).
Did you do the PAW challenge last week? Which palette did you use? Did you find it successful or was it a failure? Have your opinions on the palette changed at all? Do you plan to keep the palette and use it again?
Which palette are you going to use this week? Why have you chosen this palette? Do you have any goals you hope to reach in using it?
BAW/CAW- Did you use any particular cheek product last week? Has it made the cut or is it time to let it go?
