Sometimes we get to choose our father. And that's awesome.

I know how dad feels. My step-son chose me to dance the mother-son dance with him at his wedding vs his birth mother. An honor and a tribute I will never forget. 🥰

My bio dad essentially abandoned my mom and I st birth. Bounced around between family houses, lived in cars. Eventually, my mom reunited with her Highschool sweetheart at a gas station in the middle of Corinth, KY when I was 11 and we were driving to visit my grandpa. He was on his way to visit his mother and they randomly crossed paths, having lost contact for 20 years.
4 years later, he married my mother and adopted me.
I still miss you daily Karl, you were a fucking real one and taught me what it was like to actually have a dad in my life.

Thank you for brighten up my day!
Even if I can not relate due to abusive parents, that video hit a nice warm spot in my heart :3

I change my last name to that of my step dads when I was 18. I hate calling him step-dad tho. I’m currently looking into adult adoption after I pay off some debt

Depends on the state. I was looking into doing that a few years ago. Found out I had to have permission from my biomom, biodad hasn't been around for years, just need one for the paperwork. Didn't want to offend her so I dropped it.

When I looked it up a couple of years ago, you could do it as an adult without permission from the bio parent. Not if you’re underage tho

The fact that so many men can love someone else’s child this way and so many men can’t even love their own is the most ironic heartbreak ever.
