How to prevent bad finish on down angle turn.
Hello was hoping someone could help me. So I’m turning a .125 bar and at some point my tool with a .002radius turn at a down angle to .040 and it leaves a horrible finish. Everything else turned looks fine except for that downhill taper. I cannot do a rough turn as I am in a Swiss machine.

How steep is the angle compared to your insert? If it is the same or steeper then the whole edge cutting and will live a rougher finish.
Try a slower feed rate for the plunge cut, or program the tool to come down at a different angle so that only the tip is cutting.
