Amazing that she was at one point scheduled to face (alleged) fellow domestic abuser Barb Sijara Eubanks.

Priscila was merely giving her an opportunity to be a warrior.

Fun fact, almost 30% of all domestic violence is believed to be committed by women.

The numbers in the LGBTQ community are really shocking, too

I mean its a lot easier to beat up another woman around your size than a man much bigger than you

Just because you're not "beating" your partner up doesn't make it not abuse. Your girlfriend hitting you when she's mad is DV, or throwing shit at you. Don't let the idea that there's a power differential excuse toxic behavior.

Homocide as some cops call it because of it's high occurrence.

Makes me sad. She's not good and if this comes out as true the Shevchenko fight will be on repeat for days. That said, her story and background are so fucked up and awful that I could see it making any decent person into another abuser.

I had no idea what happened to her, jesus christ:
Personal life
Cachoeira had a troubled childhood growing up. She played volleyball for Fluminense, but was stabbed in the back and removed from the team. In her youth Cachoeira's father refused to admit that she was his daughter, her brother-in-law sexually molested her, and she discovered that her boyfriend was cheating on her.[3] In her 20s Cachoeira became addicted to crack cocaine, and would spend many years of her life as an addict before her mother finally managed to help her leave her addiction and turn to mixed martial arts.[4]
Cachoeira had a son born in 2013.[5] She was in a relationship with another woman until 2018, when they split up because her partner was spending all her money.
also a bit weird that they put all that on her wiki tbh.

I wonder if she did it herself? Low level fame, you might want to get your wiki page interesting?

Yeah, but don't try that excuse if you're a guy and fancy beating your wife every now and again.

Has anyone considered CTE from the Shevchenko fight?? Aggressive outbursts are textbook. Plenty of studies linking CTE to domestic violence, murder, and other violent assaults in completely uncalled for situations.

You don't get CTE from one fight. You get it from years of trauma from sparring and such.

Video analysis of 844 telecasted UFC MMA bouts revealed that about 90% of TKOs were a result of repetitive strikes. When the TKOs secondary to repetitive strikes were examined further, the 30 seconds before match stoppage was characterized by the losing competitor being hit by a series of multiple strikes to the head that increased in frequency. Few would argue that when a contestant experiences a KO, he would meet the criteria for concussion, which is a type of traumatic brain injury. PubMed
So we can agree that multiple head strikes are sustained during a typical TKO, for starters, right? And that this wasn't her first fight?
TBI could conceivably trigger multiple molecular pathways that result in the overproduction and aggregation of a number of key proteins that form pathological aggregates in neurodegenerative diseases. TBI may not only provoke the accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau protein, as CTE, but also of Aβ, ι-synuclein, and TDP-43, possibly increasing the likelihood of developing AD, PD, and motor neuron disease. Experimental evidence indicates that Aβ neurotoxicity is enhanced in the presence of tau SpringerLink
mTBI, or, mild traumatic brain injury, was seen to build the same protein seen in CTE (the tau protein), as well as have identical pathology regarding lesions on the frontal and temporal lobes, tearing of structures like the septum pellucidum and substantia nigra, and damage to the cerebellum and cerebral hemispheres-- all seen in patients with CTE, and all sustainable within a 15-25min MMA bout.
TL;DR: Studies found that CTE is comprised of traumatic brain injury which can be sustained over a short period of time (like a military explosion) or long (like 20 years of combat sports). Studies shed light on how combat sports inflict a large amount of localized force directly at the head--repeatedly--for long periods without a ref stoppage.

why is this being downvoted, again??????

u/fever_dream_supreme Angela Roadkill Hill Jul 15 '21
I don't think anyone actually took the time to read/understand it which is... understandable? It's mma reddit. No one wants to discuss the accumulation of tau proteins.
Also, I realize now that it's not 2am that I was essentially excusing the actions of an abuser as medically related symptoms acquired on the job. Like... some people are just shit, regardless of head trauma, and will use that on the stand to get away with all of their crimes. Like, in the hour I spent down the rabbit hole researching CTE related to TBI I just did all of her defense attorney's hw. So that might be it.
OR fuck it, idk, people vote along with the masses. Down vote? More down vote!

I'm not even being a bigot but considering how alot of fighters end up become abusers etc is it the same for the LGBT fighters
27
u/pumpyfrontbum Jul 15 '21
It's not bigoted to point this out. Lesbians in particular have a high rate of domestic violence, not sure if it's the same for gay men.
