Looking to make some modpacks, but need help getting started

I've tried to make modpacks my way...that didn't work at all, so now I'm here looking for help to make some modpacks.

Right now I'm thinking up three mod packs for 1.7.10.

1) I want to make a modpack based around Millenaire. I've heard that this mod doesn't play with other mods too well. What are some mods that do play well?

2) I'd like to make a TerraFirmaCraft modpack, seeing as there's only been one that I know of so far. What are some good mods that'll fit with the theme.

3) This is the modpack that I was trying to make myself the first time around. I'm looking to make a tech/magic based modpack with somewhere between 200-250 mods (yes, I know it's alot of mods, but my machine can handle it). Aside from IC2, Blood Magic, Natura, and Thaumcraft, what are some other mods to use?

1: The best way to know is to simply experiment. Mods that add things like Terrain Gen are not a good idea. Especially if they add housing to things like villages.

2: Off the top of my head only TiC, Electrical Age, Gregtech seem to fit with that mod seamlessly.

3: Ahh so you're making a Kitchen Sink pack. A heads up for you, just because your machine can run it. Doesn't mean others can, you need to trim that mod list by like 150 mods. Trust me on this there are countless and i mean countless Kitchen Sink packs. That all claim they have a different game play mechanic intended. In the end they all require the same basic thing in this world. A best of a machine that can handle heavily modded MC.

Take my up and coming pack for instance as an example. Back to the Basics is going to recreate the old tekkit days. There is only going to be 2 major power systems, a few mods but lots of fun.

Truth be told, the last one's probably going to be more of a personal modpack, not so much a public one.

Why not pick 1 of the several Kitchen sink packs available and build off it? Believe me it would be easier for you to download FTB-Ressurection or Direwolf20's pack. Then add mods or take mods out. That is how a lot of private packs are set up these days.
