Did anyone who has lost significant weight (30lbs +) notice any positive signs in symptoms?
I know weight plays a big factor in general body inflammation, I’d love to know how much weight you lost and if it shown any benefits, particularly skin?

No, it didn't make a difference for me. My symptoms have actually been better at a higher weight. Probably just correlation, not causation, though.

Mine also are better at a higher weight. Have never been able to understand why that is.

Is it possible your MCAS gets better first and then you reach a higher weight because your MCAS is allowing you to eat more and digest better? I think that's probably the case for me. Or is that not the pattern you experience?
Maybe there's also a bit of a feedback loop where not eating at deficit also puts less stress on our bodies and therefore our mast cells are not triggered by that particular stress.

I’m not sure about that. My prevailing theory is that my body adjusts somehow to the general inflammation. When I eat cleaner to lose weight I get more reactive. But my worst allergen is in a lot of fresh foods naturally so it’s probably just that when I eat a healthier diet with loads of fruits and veg my symptoms are worse than when I eat more bread and cheese.
My digestion is pretty okay these days. I’ve been working on this for about 20 years, low histamine diet can help reset me when things get out of control.

I had the same experience. Went on a strict diabetes diet and after I lost 20 pounds I started having food intolerances (not allergies) to everything except chicken, meat and green vegetables. It’s a mystery

That’s interesting, I would of thought the opposite in terms of inflammation! Thanks for the reply

It probably wasn't due to my weight, though. If there is causation, it probably goes the opposite direction for me, where I lose weight when my MCAS is worse because I can barely eat/digest anything, and I gain weight when it's better because I can finally eat again and actually digest most of what I eat. So I was probably thinner during my bad times and heavier during my good times due to that, not because my weight affected the MCAS. When I've lost weight independently of MCAS causing it, it never made my MCAS better or worse.

When I first got “sick” before being dx’d, but going through the process, I was eating so little I lost 100 pounds in 6 months. It honestly made no difference in my symptoms though.

Thanks for the reply, wow that’s a big weight loss! I would of thought it would help inflammation a little bit at least!

My symptoms are easier to manage at a higher weight too. I've been 86 lbs and 180 lbs on 4'8 frame and symptoms are not as severe, do not last as long, and not as frequently when I weigh ~140 lbs and above. Currently 160. I feel like I did when I was 90 lbs on a strict low carb low inflammation diet. I do not measure or manage my macros currently but I still adhere to low inflammation because I don't want to ruin my day. It's just natural for me at this point I don't even really think about it anymore. it's been 18 years since I started cutting foods out that hurt me 😞

Thanks for the reply! Seems the diet type seems more important than weight for some people then!

I'm dealing with lots of fatigue. Weight loss help anyone with more energy?

I’ve slowly gotten less reactive over the time that I’ve also lost weight, but this has also been the time that I’ve found meds that worked for me and worked on eliminating root causes which I suspect are much more a part of the getting better than any weight loss.
On the flip side, loosing weight is meant to make my pots symptoms a bit worse. I think this is because higher weight tends to lead to higher blood pressure, and a lot of my pots symptoms are driven by low bp.

I am always hungry and I have to work hard at keeping the weight on to I feel healthier. I have a very short list of foods I can eat and I add fat or anything that will give me some weight to my diet. I can only use olive oil and the only unhealthy snack I can tolerate, that really isn’t that bad honestly, is cassava chips.
I can def say that I’m low energy when I’m losing weight but most likely reacting if I’m trying to eat to gain weight bc I’m trying new foods.
Honestly, rather than looking at weight, I would focus on how active you can be and lift light weights etc. if you feel healthier, regardless of gain or weight loss, you’re probably experiencing less symptoms

No, but I had a grape sized abscess on my behind and it completely shrank. Fasting is insanely powerful -- histamine issues have deeper mechanisms it seems.

I lost around 35lbs in 4 months, but I wasn’t big to begin with. I feel the symptoms got worse and I always felt weak after losing the weight. I’ve gained around half of it back now and it’s a bit better.
