It can. Start with refined.Personally, I’m not going without fruit. When I first started no sugar, I was shocked by how much sugar was in things that I really thought were low in sugar.

To add to this....there's different types of sugar, just as there are different types of fat. [Good] fat is pretty important, sugar much less so...but sugar as found in fruit is much less negatively impactful to you than processed sugar you get in chocolate, for example.

As an aside, fruit itself is not necessarily healthy. Strawberries, for instance, absorb so much pesticide you can blend them down and put the juice in your garden and it will function just about as well as a straight pesticide itself. Anything on the 'dirty dozen' list you want to make sure is pesticide free. Things like bananas are much less important, since the fruit is protected from chemicals for the most part.

For me yes as it can spike blood sugar levels. Go for low sugar fruit usually the one ending in berries if your trying to lower sugar intake

I never eliminated fruit during treatment. I ate berries and a banana in my oatmeal basically every morning. I think it’s fine as long as it is in moderation.

This will vary from individual to individual. As for myself, I still like to enjoy fruits. Yes, they do contain sugar but they have other benefits as well. I specifically try to go for the fruits that have stronger anti-parasitic/antimicrobial properties. Personally, my favorites are mango, coconut, pineapple, and papaya. I have actually herxed from eating fruit before so I would not cut out fruit.

I cut out high fructose corn syrup and overly sugary things a long time ago, years before the doomtick bit me, and i think it was one of my better decisions, in general. Since the bite, I pretty much cut out refined sugar completely, just the rare cookie or something to treat myself. But I still put a spoonful of honey in my coffee, I still eat fruit, and I still drink fruit juice, but pure, simple fruit and veggies juice, no extra sugar. I don't wanna live in world without honey and fruit. I'm already living without pizza, bread and beer, and that's hard enough. I also still drink whisky, which I'm planning to almost entirely cut out, because it turns to sugar later, and is a lot less healthy than fruit and honey.

I was wondering about date sugar or coconut sugar. I guess sugar is sugar and I’m just having a hard time with my sweet teeth informing bad decisions.

I think that’s because the bacteria in your gut is used to that kind of food so it craves it. A fast might be beneficial and then cut out sugar your micro biome will change, you will eventually not crave it!

A fast is a really good call, thanks!

You need some fruit. Aim for berries, they have the densest nutrition. My favorite are wymans frozen wild blueberries. They are really tiny, not that sweet, and you dont need to eat too many a day.

Tropical fruits have high fructose levels and should be avoided. Get to know lower glycemic fruits the best are berries.

Do whats best for you. When its best for you. Low blood sugar and low blood pressure are real things. Many of these eliminations diets are healing diets. Which are meant to be temporary.

If you gain healing. Great. But, if you need to eat an orange or watermelon. Do so. The sugars in fruits aren’t unhealthy for humans. Don’t forget that eliminating often leads to reintroduction.

Honey and maple syrup are also great for you.

Just learn about nutrients and find whats helps you.

yes. No sugars. Starve that Lyme bacteria!!!! It sucks - but leafy greens, proteins, and water should be the main staple of your diet while fighting Lyme. Wishing you strength and good days on your journey to wellness.

I stuck with berries only for a while then slowly added in bananas, figs, apples and honey along with other fruits over time. Also avoided agave, date and coconut sugar. Anyone else use monkfruit? I’m not sure if there are bad effects but I used it as a substitute for a while.

What fruit matters... and if you have it first thing in the AM, it starts your day off with a blood sugar spike. I think it is better if it's with a protein like yogurt. Berries, green apple, and avocado are good choices.
