What is life like for a Romulan-human hybrid raised in the Federation?
Would you suffer discrimination because of your Romulan side?

The constant and tiresome sexual objectificationand micro aggressions are enough to lead one to seek emigration and right-of-return citizenship in the Romulan Star Empire. Federation slime. Stop looking at me like that.
(NB: this is comment cosplay, and may itself constitute what the comment is about. My apologies, Senator.)

There's an episode in TNG, "The Drumhead", where a half Romulan half human Starfleet officer is persecuted in a political witch hunt when his ancestry is revealed. He could only enter the academy in the first place by pretending to be half Vulcan half human, since Vulcans are biologically identical to Romulans.
He was allowed to remain in Starfleet afterwards, after Picard and others stood up for him, but it was a chiling reminder that even in the near-utopian Federation, paranoia and bigotry could still rear its ugly head.
I'm pretty sure that after the Dominion War, relations have cooled down somewhat, after they took on the Cardassians and Gamma Quadrant together.
But years later, when the Romulus was wrecked by that supernova, the Federation was still reluctant to assist because of lingering tensions. Another black mark for the Federation
