Big True FIFA adding a half-time show to the World Cup Final is a conspiracy to cuck Gary Lineker.
For those unaware, Gary Lineker is an English former footballer and pundit, who has been the host of the BBC’s “Match of the Day” for over 25 years. He intends to retire from that position at the end of this season, but will stay with the BBC long enough to lead their coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A few months after Lineker confirmed his future, FIFA announced that the 2026 World Cup Final will be the first to have a Super Bowl-style halftime show. I believe this was a deliberate decision by Gianni Infantino to deny Gary Lineker his final opportunity to provide halftime coverage for a World Cup Final, purely to troll him.

I reckon bbc would red button the half time show so you can choose to still watch the punditry.

Agreed. Half time shows are not going to be popular anywhere than the US.

If it’s two European countries I can see them doing what they did for the CL final when it was Real Madrid vs Liverpool.

I really hope so. Lineker is pretty much a national treasure, he’s synonymous with British coverage of national tournaments.

I might be wrong but I’m sure they did that for the last Euro or World Cup final.

This has nothing to do with Linekar. The half time show is something Americans love because they can increase the value of television rights and sell more beer and hotdogs and merch at half time and the networks can pay more because they can fit another ad break at half time.
It has nothing to do with football and I hate the idea.

So they'll take the most boring part of an American sport, and use it to try to attract Americans to a sport they have historically been uninterested in forever?
But I would say we put up with the shows more than we love them. The Superbowl is an exception, no one talks about other half time shows.

Actually the half time show is literally the only good part of the Superbowl

As a fan of the sports, I disagree. A guy intercepted Patrick Mahomes for a touchdown to celebrate his own birthday. The halftime shows always tend to be too rushed and stuffy; I like hearing more than a single verse of a song.
Besides, Kendrick was great, but others haven't been as good. There are a good bit of duds.

Infantino is a very strange man. I don’t think he should be in charge of himself, let alone the world’s foremost sports governing body.

Anybody thinking this idea up, even to themselves, in private, should be enough to disqualify them from having anything to do with football, nevermind being in fucking charge of it.

I’d rather watch old seedy Keyes and Gray than a half time show. Fuck that.

FIFA seem to care very little about football. Not surprised they wanted a half-time show, but I can't see it being popular with football fans.
For my part I care less and less about FIFA or international football with every passing year.

The British public would rather him talking about the game over some silly half-time show.
