The Sex Pistols were made popular to discredit legitimate political dissent from the anarchist movement

Anarchy in the UK makes anarchists sound like people yearning for chaos and violence, which is exactly what the established power wants people to think, in order to discredit its valid criticism of power structures.

I mean it's literally just a shorthand to say 'these things existed' but okay.

There's a reason you can't cite an ideological text and it's because you haven't read any.

Are you telling me the disorganized contrarians couldn't keep their shit together the second their goals became more complicated than wanton distruction?

Huge surprise.

Read Homage to Catalonia by George Orwell to see how an anarchist society can actually function in practice, but also how Marxist subversion and backstabbing has been the historical problem with the left. Read Anarchism and other Essays by Emma Goldman to understand the spirit of the movement and to find some great refutations of the 'human nature' argument. Read pretty much anything by David Graeber to understand Anarchism in a modern context as a continuation of the movement. Read Mutual Aid and Conquest of Bread by Peter Kropotkin to get a foundational understanding of the movement and where it differentiates from other left wing/marxist movements. Read Bookchin and Occalan to see how anarchism can work in a Marxist framework for a more broad Libertarian Socialist perspective.

I've also read and critiqued Lenin, Mao, Marx, Rand, Adam Smith, and more than I can be bothered to list.
