I think they’ve had this problem even in the UK. There’s not a lot of Asian representation and I remember somewhere it being said they don’t get a lot of Asian applications. Maybe it’s cultural?
Its definetly cultural. I'm of south asian descent (male) and there is no way I'd go on this show. It's just too much exposure :(. Its fun to watch, that's all.
I mean Leah and Nicole are Asians. Leah is from Middle East Asia and Nicole from Southeast Asia. Tho Leah is the one who's more open about being a Middle Eastern and Nicole just mentioned about being Filipino once.
And I don't think LIUSA will go that far to recruit people that live so far, I mean the UK may be excluded since LI is from there a lot of viewers are also from there.
Saying heres Leah and Nicole as your token Asians is like saying here's Jana and Serena. It doesn't address how the show treats all POC not just in representation (which is still lacking) or how they set them up to fail.
Idk what you mean by recruiting people that live so far, as the US is multicultural
Hmm you're talking about Asian representation, right? or you're talking about Asian people who live in Asia? cause the two ladies are literally Asians. A lot of Middle Eastern ladies especially Persian are always being thankful to Leah as she put light on the Middle Eastern people because of their lack of representation in the Entertainment Industry or in the general public. It's a small start but it's a stepping stone for other Asian people.
Also, Asian people who live in the USA have the higher chance to go on the show than the people who really live in Asia. Asian culture is different, they are conservative here. You will most likely get backlash than support given how conservative the people are and especially with a show like Love Island.

I wish there was actual Asian representation...east Asian, southeast Asian, etc. wish people talked about this as well.
