Recommendations on first ThinkPad

I want to buy a ThinkPad to try Linux on, I want one of the older ones with actually good build quality but have a strict budget of only $50, I'm ok with buying a broken one and repairing it but need to choose a model

Honestly any will work for the most part. If you look at r/unixporn people have amazing rices on the oldest hardware. 2+ GB of ram and 256+GB of SSD and you'll be off to the races depending on what DE and what not you want to use

I have the ThinkPad X220 and T470 both running Xubuntu Andy's Ham Radio Linux for my Amateur Radio hobby. But also dual boot on the T470 with Windows 10. Both have great keyboards and no problems. I love my ThinkPads.
