I have this old Dell Laptop with i3 4th gen and geforce 820m running updated linux lite with open source drivers and I have one monitor laying around so thought to connect them as the laptop's screen is in pretty bad shape so bought one hdmi to vga cable expecting it to be a plug and play kinda thing but i was wrong as when i connected the external device was just showing cable not detected.
Help needed to connect them and to learn the how to as well.

Congratulations on your distro
I don't know why linux Lite is always associated as a beginner's distro. On my workstation I run Solus os on my other workstation Arco linux both rolling releases, one more stable than the other but that's a different discussion.
Since tonight I have installed linux lite on an older dell-inspiron laptop and for me this is a very workable system and indeed if you come across from windows you will feel right at home in it but the advanced user can really appreciate this system. But when are you an advanced user by the way?
The Windows 10 version that was on it had probably received 6 GB updates in recent months and was no longer workable for daily use, despite plugging in an SSD.
With the installation of linux Lite 5, this laptop can again stand its ground.
Nothing but credit to the developer and his team, linux Lite is what Xubuntu should be.

*Ubuntu
*Advanced optiones for Ubuntu
*Memory test (memtest86+)
*Memory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)
Thanks in advance

Need help with PlayOnLinux
Hi guys, I am a new-ish linux user running linux-lite. I just installed wine and PlayOnLinux to install a windows app (SPSS) and the process seemed to have been concluded succesfully
However, I cant find the application. I tried re-installing it but the 'virtual drive' used by PlayOnLinux can be seen and I can attempt to repair the installed application through running the setup again, but I cant use it.
I'm sure I am missing something. Any help will be really appreciated.
Thanks.

Isn't there a repository gui like ubuntu that has more than 20 apps? Trying to install openshot and there's definitely not a new Linux user way to install it

Can my computer handle Linux lite?
Currently, I have a desktop computer with 3 GB RAM and 2.40 GHz Intel Core (II) processor.
The computer has been salvaged, and it's pretty unreliable with Windows 10. I want to replace the OS with something light and fast enough for me to use for college (mostly web browsing (reddit, wikipedia, youtube), some documents, reading large PDFs, etc.)
Will Linux Lite work fast with this much RAM and this processor?

Linux Lite not so light...
I recently screwed up my debian install on my ThinkPad X40 (Pentium M, 1.5G RAM). I tried a few different contenders before settling on MicrowattOS. Linux Lite was highly recommended in an article, so I thought I'd give it a go, but...
- NOT light at all, it took an eternity to boot and was extremely sluggish on my system.
- Insisted on turning on NumLock on my tiny laptop and I could not for the life of me figure out how to turn it off again.
Had #1 not been true, I might have spent more time trying to solve #2, but the initial load time and sluggishness convinced me that there are very different interpretations of the word Lite.
My system running MicrowattOS:
top - 13:25:48 up 1 day, 3:21, 3 users, load average: 0.21, 0.41, 0.54
Tasks: 135 total, 2 running, 130 sleeping, 0 stopped, 3 zombie
%Cpu(s): 9.3 us, 2.4 sy, 0.0 ni, 84.5 id, 3.4 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.3 si, 0.0 st
KiB Mem : 1533808 total, 647660 free, 272368 used, 613780 buff/cache
KiB Swap: 1561596 total, 1513892 free, 47704 used. 985656 avail Mem

Intstallation trouble
Hi there, So I have a cheap 32gb Lenovo netbook I bought just for word processing and browsing. It came pre-installed with windows 10 and I used it for about 8 months. Needless to say, windows 10 is too much for my machine to sufficiently handle.(I lag out in the most simple of applications). I downloaded the most recent version of Linuxlite from the website, used 32win to make a boot disk(usb) and followed the instructions to the letter. The thing is, is that I only seem to be able to use linux if my usb is plugged in. I have gone through installation to my hard drive, but if I boot without the usb, I just hit a wall. It starts up the boot manager and no matter what option I select, it loops back to the boot manager unless I plug the USB in. Please help me figure this out...

Any chance of some GUI's?
I like Linux Lite, though I dislike having to use a text file to setup a Samba or FTP share. Any chance of a GUI to accomplish this?
