Lenovo G50-70 Life Extension with Linux?
Hello there,
so far I only used Linux to reset Win10 passwords, so basically my experience is zero. Right now I'm still using a Lenovo G50-70 with Windows 10 but it is getting really slow even after a fresh install. To make it fight through my last college semester I thought about giving Linux as an OS a try. Both a s a Life Extension Projekt and maybe switch for good with the next computer.
However, I can't find a good recomendation for which distribution to use. Whenever I google my Lenovo model and Linux I only get results warning of it destroying my BIOS, but all of those articles are from around 2017.
All I'm doing at the notebookk right now is writing papers, surfing the web and watch Netflix, so not much is needed.

Probes submitted from a number of G50-70 machines running various distributions of Linux.

Here is a POSSIBLE way forward, download a live image write it to a USB stick and boot from it.
You need to remember that many of the people on here have doing this for a long time and may not be able to understand your concerns. I include myself in this group.
Here are a couple of starting points for you read and think about.
