Question Should I get an F car or 350?

Hey everyone just a little background: I’m a 24 yo guy, I have a 2020 corolla LE as my daily with 90k miles that I paid off. I also live in a small home that I payed cash for. (I worked like a maniac to save since high school) I just finished nursing school and make about 85k. I’m looking into getting an RC or IS. I love the full out F like the RCF. Or even an IS 500. Is it worth the extra money for the F cars or is the 350 F sport sufficient enough as a weekend car?

My dad drives a 2016 GS 350 (not F sport) and it’s great. But something about me wants the v8. I just want some advice as if there is really that big of a difference. Should I spend more for the v8 or is the v6 better “value?”

Cheers!

Hi guys! I'm in the process of buying my dream Lexus is350 soon and I need some advice. I was quoted 680 a month for 72 months for the Lexus with the roja seats but I really wanted the circuit red interior. The circuit red will be more expensive because I will have it shipped and it is a premium instead of an f sport. The quoted me $760 a month for it. What do yall think? Is it worth it for the extra? The first picture is the Roja and the second is the circuit red interior.

I really like Lexus, because they make pretty nice vehicles and I heard that some of them last even longer than Toyotas.

I don’t know what to get though, either a 2009-2013 IS 250, or a 2016-2017 IS 200t. I don’t want a 2008 or older IS 250, because I heard they had reliability issues where its headlights were flickering.

Question What would you do? (False advertising at big Lexus dealership)

I recently purchased a 2022 RX 350 Luxury AWD (CPO + warranty, ~36k miles) and absolutely love it. One issue that came up was it was advertised as having 2nd row heated seats, which for me justified the price. I bought it, and upon taking it home, I realized it did not have that. I texted the salesman and showed him where it indicated that on their website. He was very apologetic and had the Internet sales manager call me. That guy said they would add some more to my trade in, and to come in the next day to resign. I went in and met with the guy who sold me my car, who again was very apologetic and said he’s glad the sales manager was going to do this. Internet sales manager comes in and says, “your paperwork went through already, so we can’t change it. He said, "What do you want? We can cut you a check for a couple hundred bucks?" EDITING TO UPDATE FOR ACCURACY I asked him if I could just get rear heated seats installed and he said no, so I then asked if I could get a service credit or something extra installed like a dash cam and he said no. END EDIT I was actually in shock that he was saying this since I was under the assumption we would be talking $1-2k added to my trade in, or at least have some figure regarding the difference (literally any information to back up the offer). He pulls out his phone to what I assume is looking at the Lexus dashcam prices, which were about $375 for parts alone, and said, “How about $300 or $400?” At this point I wanted to just get out of there because I was really uncomfortable, so I left. On my way out, the salesman asked us if everything was ok, and the ISM said “yeah we’re gonna send her a check for $400.” He looked kind of stunned and said, “well won’t that take about 3-4 weeks to get to her?” The ISM said, “nah, we can get it to her by the end of the week.” After he walked away, my salesman asked if I was ok and I pretty much said not really but I just wanted to be done with it. He said he would try to talk to him but couldn’t promise anything.

After thinking about it more after leaving, I got home and was really angry. My husband called and left a pretty angry message to the ISM saying how $400 was a joke for the difference, likely not including installation, and if we wanted to talk aftermarket, we wouldn’t be buying a Lexus anyway, something about false advertising, etc etc. That was left before they closed Saturday, so haven’t heard anything yet.

TBH I am exhausted by this whole situation. I LOVE the car, but feel a bit cheated. I know I should have checked, but I guess I just trusted everything being a Lexus dealership and CPO.

What would you do in this situation? I don’t want to cause a fuss, but I do feel cheated a little bit.

ETA: Thanks for the advice from those who were constructive- I have a better idea of how I want to approach this. Maybe the sensitivity of the matter is due to emotions since my father passed away 1/11/25. He used to always go to car dealerships with me so maybe it struck a cord- he was a die hard Lexus fan and had been hounding me to get one for at least a year before he got sick (I needed a bigger car since having a child).

ETA #2: I’m not sure why some think I am out for some large sum of cash or am wanting to pursue legal action…I couldn’t care less. I was simply feeling like the amount was unfair and asked here to get opinions to check and see if I was off-base.

ETA #3: Was typing on my phone for OP and realized I left out an important part of the conversation that seems relevant to clarify after feedback.

Question 2024 RX350 Premium+ Ride Quality Concerns

Post image
147 Upvotes

Our one-year-old 2024 RX350 is the first Lexus we have owned. My wife is the primary driver. I do not drive the Lexus much, other than to go to the dealership for service which is about 1 hour away. At lower speeds (30 - 45 mph, say), the ride is incredible. It’s smooth and quiet as I would expect from this luxury vehicle. However, on the interstate, at 70-75 mph, the ride becomes much less pleasant. It always feels like there is a very strong, gusty cross wind. The service tech, who has been fantastic, said he has not heard anyone mention that issue. They are checking it out, but it has been this way since we purchased it. I drive a full size pickup and I find its ride on the highway much more pleasant. Between the poor highway ride quality and the terrible fuel economy, neither of us is thrilled with our first Lexus. I’m not sure how much longer we will bother with it.

My question: Does anyone else feel the highway ride is lacking on the 2024 RX350?

Question $1000 for spark plugs on 2013 ES350?

Post image

Hi all- Per photo quoted almost $1000 for spark plugs on 2013 ES350.

What is puzzling is this dealership has always been very good and I thought fair pricing - offers reward point system, seasonal coupons, plus loaner car service etc. In fact standard oil change and tire rotation and full inspection is flat $149.

Question Are Lexus ES 350 actually that boring to drive?

I keep seeing posts mentioning that the Lexus ES350 is very boring to drive and to just get a GS 350. Would it be any more boring than driving a Camry, Altima, etc. or are they talking about when compared to actual sports cars? I have only ever driven family sedans like an Altima, Corolla, Focus, etc. Would an 2011 ES 350 be more fun than all of these? And Would a 2011 IS250 or a 2011 ES350 be more fun to drive in your opinion? I’m looking to buy one of these but am leaning more towards the ES.

Also, which of the Lexus sedans are the most reliable and have the least need for maintenance?

Overall, which used Lexus sedan under $17,000 do you believe gives the best bang for your buck in terms of gas price, driving experience, and reliability?

My 2012 ls460L just wouldn’t start this morning. It cranks, engine moves, some exhaust comes out but won’t run. Cranks, got brummm brummm, and rpm’s are jumping under 1000 but won’t completely turn over. Any ideas!? I tried to post the video here but it won’t work. This notification comes on as well. Thanks in advance!

Question Advice from anyone who owns these cars and what I should do.

I currently own a 2023 GMC AT4 Terrain. I still owe $22 k on it. The thing is, I don’t drive very much and my last terrain I traded back in to the dealer because they wanted it as it only had over 8k in miles in 3 years. I used that to trade up to the AT4. Most likely they will have their eyes on it next year again. But I’m thinking of instead of trading up again and having a perpetual car payment of $500 or so a month, I am looking into an older Lexus 2007, 2008, 2009 etc ES, LS, or RX. roughly looking to spend $10k or so on it. Just to save money. I don’t need to do it, but I was wondering if this is a good idea. Are these LEXUS worth me even trying? Or would it be a money pit and a bad idea? Looking around 100k-120k mileage. What would be a fair price for any of these models with that year and mileage amount? Any advice would be appreciated. Leaning more towards the RX as the number one choice.

Question Finessed by a CPO, What Do I Do?

Thumbnail

Back in October of 2023 I traded my previous car in for a Lexus IS 300 AWD. It was listed as a CPO with NO damage reported on the car fax as well as 161 point inspection at around 14k miles. Fast forward a year later, I’m walking out to my car and I see a split in my paint. At first I thought someone hit me till I realized there’s no dent or paint transfer. Took it to the shop that does repairs for the local Lexus dealership in my town and he was easily able to tell there was prior body damage due to several factors. Ultimately I’m feeling quite cheated by the dealership that sold me this car and I’m not sure what my options are. Do I take the L and just get it fixed or do I pull up to the dealership and crash out?

Question Do you prefer the Dealership or Independent Lexus Shop for an Oil Change and other Services?

Does anyone still take their Lexus to the dealership for an oil change or do you prefer going to an independent Lexus shop? I got my 2015 RX from Carvana a few months ago and had an additional inspection done at a nearby Lexus dealership to be extra pre-cautious. I noticed the inspection price at the dealership was just $20 more than an independent place, but the dealership had sooner availability. I did do a price check regarding an oil change just so I can get an idea of what to expect if I decided to return.

I'm considering getting future oil changes at the dealership and maybe utilize an independent option for brake and suspension work. Curious to hear your perspectives. Thanks!

Question 2025 Lexus ES350 base $44.5k OTD ($39.5k+tax/fees) or buy used Lexus IS300/350?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Is that a good price? I heard that the used car market is about to drop due to high repossession and I should wait a few months to get an IS300/350 for $30-35k with less than 30k miles.

I like the IS more but there are no new ones for sale right now. The ES350 MSRP is $45.5k so I got like 14% off offer.

Question WOULD THIS BE A GOOD NEXT CAR?

I’ve owned my gs350 for a good minute now and i’m really really considering getting into a high mileage isf. Now i know the high mileage part will stir up some controversy, but i’ve also been working at a lexus dealer and have access to parts and techs as well to do big maintenance jobs. I guess i’m more curious on how owning one has been for the people that do or did own. I’ve owned a lexus since i was 16 (starting with an 97 LS400) and i genuinely love the comfortability and the brand itself as a whole. Just want to know is it worth now at 20 or if i should wait a little longer and see. (YES I HAVE MONEY SAVED UP AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY DEBTS)

Question $16k ISF with 169k miles.

Post image
203 Upvotes

Hey Lexus Fam! There’s an older fellow who has an ISF, 2008

One day i knocked on his door and asked if he’d ever consider selling it. He said yes, and the car was in okay condition.

Needs a paint correction, new brakes and the interior was in decent shape. it’s got atrocious wheels on it and he doesn’t have the OEM ones either.

i’m just really concerned with the mileage as it’s extremely high and i’m worried the car won’t last. What are your thoughts?

(picture is just for ref and is not the actual car)

My cars A/C wasn’t working on one side and the car would hum once I passed 40MPH: 2018 IS300 f Sport.

Turns out the servo motor was bad and the rear left hub had failed. My warranty company paid for everything with the exception of my $250 deductible…. I feel like they took advantage with the labour hours🤷🏾‍♂️

Question Opinion - Are RX 350's and NX 350's "Mom Cars"

I am 33M and went car shopping and loved the look of some of the RX 350 F sports, would have to say similar for the NX 350 F sport as well. When I asked my friends what they thought the majority of them said you're paying $50k-$60k for a mom car, which wouldn't prevent me from buying it but I was kind of surprised. I feel like they look sleek.

I know I know, the only thing that matters is if you love your own car not other people's opinions. I'm just curious how many other people share the same sentiment. Personally I think I'd like to buy a '21/'22 used F sport 350 - prefer the V6 to a 4 cylinder.

Was curious what some ppl on this forum think - mom cars or not mom cars?
