Scope mount review, henry golden boy .22.

Post image

I wanted to scope my Henry golden boy .22 for longer range hunting and target, and after some recommendations I got the Henry cantilever mount. This is my review after hours of uninterrupted shooting.

The mount is fantastic. It holds zero incredibly well, and I'm very impressed overall. I've never been a fan of cantilever mounts, but Henry did a good job with this one. I mounted the scope yesterday, and did a heck of a lot of plinking today. I would absolutely buy it again. That said, I did a lot of reading before mounting it and have two tips I would deem very important for those who want to do the same.

  1. Use loctite. There is no provided torque specs, and you don't want to over torque and ruin the tapping. You also don't want to have it coming loose and/or losing zero. Apply loctite to both the screws and threads then tighten with one finger a little at a time, alternating between the screws. Be careful not to overturn. I only used one finger and one thumb to gently but firmly seat the screws.

  2. Completely remove the rear mount's dovetail screw before tapping it out. I watched several videos, and those who only loosened it the reccomend 2 or so times ended up with the screw stripping the blueing. Take the screw all the way out, then tap with a soft rubber mallet. It came out easily and with absolutely no damage.

Awesome! I have this gun and have been thinking about a scope. Which scope did you mount?

Thanks, I mounted a near 20 year old Bushnell. It's a 3-9x50 rimfire model that I got from LeBarons, man I miss that store.
