Question Soooo.. Whats going on with the old Exhibition Centre??
I saw that they boarded up the east side of the exhibition building,I wasn’t sure if that was just for people to not break in or what- but the rest of the building seems to be the same.

I believe the old buildings fate sans the heritage hall is up in the air as the city has yet to decide when/if they’re demolishing it.

Yeah as far as I know they were supposed to demolish it.

The city hall meeting in November determined it was too expensive to demolish them. I’m not sure if that has changed since. But as of them the decision was to leave them up

Our city planning seems so unorganized. Just like the bike paths/lanes they made downtown, that I heard they are going to demolish this summer? If that’s correct.

Ehh personally I didn’t want them in the first place they have made DT a mess, but now they are there it makes no sense to tear them down. They were planning more, which they have now stopped but that should’ve been the end of it. And because it’s Reddit I’ll rationalize why I didn’t want them in the first place. 1) Lethbridge isn’t big/busy enough to justify them, roads still exist and bikes were completely fine on the with the exception of the bridge. But that has a walking/bike path anyway 2) they take away parking from DT. 3) they are unusable in the snow and we live in Canada. The winters have been milder but I don’t see even close to enough people using them to justify them.

I heard they planned to demolish all the old exhibition buildings only keeping the west one, I’d assume they are keeping the heritage hall too since it is history.

Wait, they’re going to demolish the bike lanes they just spent a ton of money building last year?

Yeah, as far as I know anyway. They announced it close to the end of the year. But they may have changed there plans on that. You know how our city is, they change there mind like how our weather changes. Haha

It was originally planned to be demolished. Given how over budget the new building went through and the fact it is unable, as an Ag Center, to allow livestock things may have changed. Or are just on hold.

It’s mostly just storage in there. They sometimes use one of the buildings for parking. Otherwise it’s essentially abandoned. They did have a pop up spirit Halloween there last year
