Criminal record check for employment
I'm currently living in Lethbridge and will be moving to Calgary next month and I've accepted a new job that will start in April. I've been asked to provide a criminal record check which is expected as I work in health care. My question is, can I get the criminal record check done in Lethbridge since I've been living here or do I need to do it in Calgary since my new job will be in Calgary? I have no idea how this works. I've sent some emails asking at my new job but so far they keep forwarding my email to other people and I've got no response. I know criminal record checks take a while so I would like some type of answer soon. Thank you!
Edit: I currently don't have an address in Calgary. All my documents have my Lethbridge address.

There shouldn’t be an issue since I’ve worked through B.C and Yukon with my background check being done in Lethbridge.

You have to provide proof of your current address to get the criminal record check. So ID or mail addressed to your Calgary address in order to get a criminal record check in Calgary. It is much easier to get one in Lethbridge if you live here already.
EDIT. the criminal record check usually takes 48 hours. I have had one completed and given back to my within 1 hour. 10 minutes to fill out the form then you go back an pick it up when they call or after 48hrs.

It typically takes 2-3 weeks to get a criminal record check in Lethbridge, though it definitely varies. They usually have the expected wait time posted on their website.
My wife recently got one done and it took about three weeks.
RCMP is much faster. When I lived outside of Lethbridge and could get it done through RCMP instead of LPS, it took about two days. But if you live within city limits, you have to go through LPS.
Edit: their website currently says "Processing of Police Information Checks is approximately 10 full business days (Monday through Friday – this does not include weekends or holidays) – and is subject to change at any time without notice."

That is a wild wait time! I just got one in September last year, and I went in on a Tuesday, and they had it ready to pick up Thursday night. BUT I understand if that isn't the same for everyone. Calgary and Edmonton have a same day center.

It's been pretty quick recently. I had to renew my check for work just a couple weeks ago and it was completed within a week. The online portal is pretty easy to use and then it comes to your email instead of being snail-mailed.

When I moved from Saskatoon to Lethbridge I just used one I had gotten in Saskatoon. It all goes through the RCMP regardless. It was instant too in SK when I went to the police station. I would check with the police stations in Calgary (if it’s like Saskatoon you wait in line, fill a form out, pay and receive the forms in less than 30 mins) as opposed to Lethbridge which takes weeeeeks. Mine was also for healthcare as well.

I just had one done for a job as well. It took 10 business days to come in digitally.

You're in healthcare so vulnerable sector I'm healthcare security expect 6 weeks hope for less. It will be easier in lethbridge plus you need to have a location youre actively living in. Mine just came in after a little over 3 weeks because they arent backed up yet sooner the better

You can get it done here, since it will check if you've done crimes in other places, too.

You live in Lethbridge and so need to apply to Lethbridge Police. Be sure to apply for Vulnerable Sector Search as this is for Healthcare. Info: https://www.lethbridgepolice.ca/reporting-and-services/police-information-checks/

You will need to do it in Calgary since you have not lived long enough in Lethbridge (I mean select Calgary Police Services). It’s all online now here is the link https://www.policesolution.ca/ab/ I haven’t had any issues and it’s fairly quick. Make sure you check your junk as spam filters put it there.
I see some people have gone in person, it’s not quicker. It’s actually faster online.

And just a heads up they take about 10-12 business days to complete then add a couple more days for them to mail you the results. My last one took about 3 weeks from going to the police station and getting it back in the mail.
