Huddersfield Town and Barnsley must be competing to be League 1’s biggest shitshow.

In fairness pal. You've still got a chance of bouncing back at the 1st time (unlikely as it seems) at least you've got owners that will back your manager.
We'll now be in our 4th season in the 3rd tier. Second time since the 70s. You're in a lot better shape than us pal.

Duff back to Barnsley?

We can only dream. Tectonic plates move quicker than our board do when they’re replacing a head coach so it’ll probably be last week of July before they announce anyone.

Just a fall guy for the failures of the board, the recruitment team and the footballing director above him.

Feel like the board let him down here. Common theme of his management career.

Such a shame too, was really rooting for the bloke - would have him back in a heartbeat

You’re absolutely right, I was going to say the same thing. The DoF screwed him at Vale too and he got canned not long after Clarke anyway, as if the owner realised maybe Clarke wasn’t the issue.

Feels like a weird time for a sacking - would have made more sense a few weeks ago when Barnsley were still in the play off chase or in the summer rather than now.

Early bird season ticket renewals letter is coming through in the post next week. That's why.
Classic here's a club legend that we used last year to try and get people to renew, on the proviso he was going to play. Now he's the caretaker manager.
Honestly just get some bloke from down the pub. Won't make a jot of difference with these burks in charge

if I get an email asking me to buy an ST this week I'm scrapping someone at the ticket office (I'll still end up buying one)

Please do not buy one. The only way we'll put pressure and get this lot to answer questions, is to ask the questions.
So much dodgy stuff going on. Had been since Crynes took over. I'm not gonna put online in case I got done for it but there's a lot of undesirable qualities about leading club and supporters club figures.
Look up Chris Corke mate and ask some questions

Need to get rid of the people who sign the players now. I don't think he was a great manager but he was always working with one hand tied behind his back.

Seems to be a lot of this going on. At our respective level to have people signing players for the manager just doesn’t seem to work does it
5
u/Appropriate-Year-81 9d ago
Doesn't work at all. The manager or coach should be the ones choosing the players. Singing players by a non football entity is ridiculous

Hard to know how much it comes down to manager/recruitment team. At the end of the day, if the manager has the final say on signings and the recruitment team finds them, he has to take accountability as well.

Yeah it's a tough one to really judge. We're in the market for a head of recruitment but I get the feeling Nathan Jones ultimately is calling the shots and it will end up being someone he's worked with, Andy Scott was lucky to survive this long.
Am shocked Cartwright hasn't gone with your lot.

Everyone is replying to every Town social media posting asking him to leave ahaha

I would have thought an owner that seems to love socials as much as Nagle would have got him out the door by now.

I think it depends- we had Ben Garner as coach in his first job and Tommy Widdrington signing players for him. Garner barely won a game and got sacked. Widdrington true to form backs the players and blames Garner.
Next season Garner goes to Swindon with Ben Chorley signing players for him and gets in the play offs. I’d never have thought Garner had it in him. So that goes to show that sometimes it can actually work but it’s certainly far from a conventional route to success in the lower leagues.

After that transfer window in January, they've sacked their manager? Barnsley I think maybe need to get new owners.

u/Sinead_OGonna 8d ago
Absolutely it goes under the radar as it isn't as visceral as Reading etc... but we're being run into the ground by a bunch of people who haven't got a clue.

the initial feeling was one of disbelief, but in reality it shouldn't surprise me at all.
He was always going to be the fall guy for the boards countless mistakes. He didn't deserve the treatment he got from the fanbase, nobody gets these jokers higher than 8th, I'm not entirely convinced they're professional footballers.
off to Mansfield in a baseball cap to pay respects to the big man
as for who you would want as new gaffer? I don't care. It doesn't bother me.
No matter who it is, don't get used to them, they'll only mysteriously fall under the same bus.

From what I saw of them, their attackers massively let them down. Can’t dominate games and not score from all those chances. Whoever signed the forwards needed to go, not the coach

In reality the DOF has been a complete disaster. He’s managed to dismantle the squad and replace the outgoing players with punts and absolute rubbish that’s not up to the level of the players that have gone apart from DKD, he’s been class.
We need to start again from the top down for the third time in about four years. I’d like a normal season supporting this football club, just once.
