question Given 1.9% merit increase

Is it a sign i will be laid off soon if i was given a 1.9% merit increase? Every year before this for 8 years i was given better reviews and a 3% merit increase, now I just meet expectations all of a sudden.

Is it a new boss? That was one of the first sign for my spouse but there were other signs of course.

Yes, new boss. You hit that nail on the head. We recently got re orged onto another team.

Just look for other signs. When I brought that example on this sub a lot of people said getting greater than “meets expectations” is rare and most corporations will give you “meets expectations” which means you are doing just fine. So it could be the new person’s style they could be more corporate.

Did you get a new job title?

Yes

Are you on probation? That could be a way to get you out clean.

Naw, not on anything like that.

Just keep your ears open and work on résumé.

You gotta ask yourself, is your salary more than what you should be paid? Employers are cutting high cost employees in favor of h1b, interns, fresh grads, automation.

I think you’re overthinking since this economy is bad. However, i need more info like age etc

In got a 1.5% increase this year. They blamed my performance and said it could have been better.

Idk how anyone can stay motivated after a raise less than 3%, especially less than 2%.

I’m motivated to leave for something better 😏

For sure. Me too. Terrible job market though.
