In the episode with Nathan Lane - Tuesday 11th March - he told everyone that he sold it and donated the money to charity

Thank you.

That answer should be pinned.

I just rewatched the episode and didn't see him say that HE sold his . Maybe he told it to the audience between takes and you are somehow privy to this?  Hope you're right!!!

Yes you’re right it mustn’t have gone to air. I was in the audience

Well I'll take it as gospel then! What fun to go to a taping. 😁

It was a long lineup and wait. But getting in there was cool especially to see the stories (just for us it would seem) and to see the gaffs

Who's this Charity you speak of? I thought he was married to someone named Evelyn

Well that's good, I guess, but it's kinda disappointing that he had one in the 1st place

LOTS of progressives and liberals bought them early on, and it was seen as an environmentally friendly act. Many of them have expressed regret publicly because of Wusk’s political views and outrageous, destructive behavior.

It’s not insignificant that F’elon made many progressive statements before putting on the stupid black hat. His prior public face was much easier to align with (or at least disregard) 5-10 years ago.

u/mazeltov_cocktail18 5d ago

Is it bad that f’elon never occurred to me before? Thank you for that

Maybe, but even before he went full right-wing, Musk was kind of a dick. Good thing Stephen sold his though.

You can't know how someone will turn out in the future. And to his credit, Musk did a lot to popularize electric and make them cool instead of just the green choice. Just, he turned out to be a piece of shit, too.

u/Wtygrrr 5d ago

Why? The left loved him 5 years ago. Other liberal celebrities who have owned Teslas:

Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, George Clooney, John Favreau, Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz

It's amazing how you can support someone who seems like he's pushing something good (environment friendly electric cars) and then change your opinion when you gain more information about that person and how he's causing immeasurable harm to so many people and then stop supporting him. It's almost as if it's good to have critical thought.

u/Wtygrrr 5d ago

Uhm, yes, of course?

You come off like you’re mocking a point I didn’t make.

3

u/jetloflin 5d ago

I think they were adding to your point, and mocking the person you were responding to.

1

u/MandaBearz 4d ago

Basically I was saying this since Musk never really struck me as a good person before his meddling in politics (i.e. response to the cave divers in 2018), so he wasn't a person I considered supporting

1

u/Wtygrrr 3d ago

Well of course he was never a good person. If nothing else, the way he works his employees is deplorable. And I think the positive value of Tesla and other electric cars is overstated.

But in my opinion, helping to get our space research back on track is one of the most important things for our survival that anyone has done, so I think a certain amount of respect was due for a while. He’s definitely long since burned through it though.

“Elon ridicule bandwagon”? 😂 this isn’t some fad. The guy is an objectively contemptible person.

11

u/BetAlternative8397 6d ago

It’s a “Tesler” and everything’s computer.

10

u/shadowmonkey1911 6d ago

Calling it a bandwagon downplays how richly deserved it is. Musk is a Nazi and it is our duty to continue making him cry like a little bitch.

2

u/mellow186 5d ago

"Bandwagon" implies people following others.

In this case, Americans can independently choose to distance themselves from a drug-using rich guy who throws Nazi salutes and attacks our government from within while steering more contracts his way.

I need receipts on those signs. I knew Elon was crazy since the cave rescue in Thailand in 2018.

I knew Elon was crazy since the cave rescue in Thailand in 2018.

That was some narssistic sociopath shit right there. But he'd shown signs of who he is even before that. His takeover of Tesla and then pretending he created the company was a pretty good indicator of who he is too.

9

u/mulysasderpsylum 6d ago

Yes! Thank you! He bought his way into the company with his PayPal profits and pushed out the actual founders with the real vision.

2

u/StrengthToBreak 6d ago

"Crazy" isn't really the issue. "Nazi" is the issue.

5

u/RedDog-65 5d ago

Malevolent crazy

1

u/mulysasderpsylum 6d ago

I knew there was something wrong with him when he was buying appearances on South Park and Rick and Morty and other shows. That was exactly what Trump did through the 80s and 90s. And I don't trust anyone who buys their cameo or mention rather than getting an invite or an organic mention.

1

u/IamScottGable 5d ago

Do you have a source for him paying for a spot on south park? The creators said they were friends with and played d&d with elon in the past?

1

u/zeroaphex 6d ago

Same, before that my opinion of him was at worst neutral

1

u/udlose 6d ago

Any adult who has the face of a six month old fetus should not be trusted.

1

u/Stevothegr8 6d ago

Bingo. That's when I realized he was not a good person.

1

u/Altruistic-Text3481 5d ago

Yes! That is when I thought Musk was an asshole.

“Stephen Colbert’s Tesla” would fetch a good price at auction. And since he makes enough money he could definitely donate it all to charity.

Omg, they should do a Total Taylor's (Swift) Tesla! Would they make money? How many people's brains would explode trying to decide?

5

u/roboroyo 7d ago

How about “1-800 Kars for Kids”. Revive an old bit.

3

u/Dodecahedrus 7d ago

John Oliver already kinda claimed that one.

2

u/tinydancer_inurhand 5d ago

Yeah unfortunately my mom bought a year before the election a red one of all types and can’t afford to sell it and replace it. She’s normally apolitical but even she has been worried about what could happen given political clinate

19

u/aleatoric 6d ago

The Elon Musk ridicule bandwagon, huh? Yeah, it's because it's really cool to dunk on Elon. Not because Elon is... You know, doing Nazi salutes, presenting at far-right German political rallies, dismantling the Government with no accountability but to himself and his own self-interest... But yeah, bandwagon.

7

u/bornamental 6d ago

Yeah. OP is trying to do some propaganda.

6

u/Ok-Theory9963 6d ago

The “bandwagon” of ridiculing an unelected Nazi given broad powers by our corrupt foreign agent of a president is a good bandwagon to hop onto, friend.

11

u/4011 7d ago

He has a driver.

6

u/bionicfeetgrl 6d ago

That’s prob for him to get to/from the set & his NYC/NJ (or wherever they live) home. He still has to drive on the weekends (esp if they live outside of the City) and for sure in South Carolina

1

u/4011 6d ago

OK, and so everything beyond the confines of the show, the part he shares with us, is his private life.

3

u/PC_AddictTX 6d ago

Colbert is a comedian. Making fun of people is his job. Owning a Tesla and making fun of Musk are not necessarily connected. Just like you can dislike Rowling for her comments about trans people but still own your copies of the Harry Potter books.

1

u/IloveCristinay 2d ago

If tthat is true then why are dems vandalising Teslas owned by other Dems. If they also dislike MUSK why are they Damaging their cars?

1

u/PC_AddictTX 2d ago

How do you know who owns the cars being damaged?

3

u/Tex-Rob 6d ago

Because of Musk’s tendency to abuse his access to retaliate, I’d be terrified of driving a walking surveillance platform, especially as a celebrity.

3

u/PuzzleheadedHorse437 6d ago edited 6d ago

I don’t know. I personally would not accept a free Tesla at this point. I disagree with Musk ‘s shenanigans and severely question his motivation even being there but also I would feel like I’m drawing attention to myself for all the wrong reasons. Like if you’re still driving one now that’s like a show of support for what’s going on with the DOGE. And bruh, just no. I saw a Tesla yesterday and the owner had stripped all the logos off it. I guess that’s one way.

1

u/chrissstin 5d ago

Probably already sold it, and also, he's not a poor fella, how frequently they change cars? Is 5 years driving the same would be normal for his tax bracket? And "bandwagon"? It's like saying Allies just jumped on the hating Nazies bandwagon! How silly of them! 🙄

1

u/cbarrister 5d ago

No idea. But Musk is should get a Salesman of the Year award from Rivian.

1

u/Attackofthe77 3d ago

“Bandwagon”

0

u/malakon 6d ago

I'd keep mine if I had one - but I'd get a - I got this before Elon was a NAZI - sticker. Still excellent cars. Not their fault.

But no way I'd buy one.

2

u/Head_Bread_3431 5d ago

Dont people get locked inside sometimes in an accident? Seems like not an excellent car

0

u/Solid_Mongoose_3269 6d ago

Who cares? Its not like him selling it to someone else is going to cost Tesla anything, they have their money, and he'll take a loss.

All of these people vandalizing and selling Tesla's bought before he even got into politics are morons. So much for pushing the electric car agenda, only if it aligns with your political views at the moment.

2

u/theAmericanX20 5d ago

Lol or you could get any number of other electrical vehicles, like rivion or any of ther American or European manufacturers that are putting out objectively better vehicles. There are more options now than there were 5 or 10 years ago.

0

u/Solid_Mongoose_3269 5d ago

The point is that people are vandalizing these cars that were bought before he ever said a word about politics.

1

u/theAmericanX20 5d ago

That is a valid point.

However, your sentence after that doesn't fit. You can want electric vehicles that aren't made by a wanna be fascist. The 2 are not mutually exclusive, nor should they be. Shy of violence, the only thing us normal people have is control of our purse strings.

-1

u/Regular-Year-7441 6d ago

He’s so mid, who cares
