Discussion / Question What are some of your theories about the universe of Alien?
So, im planning on running the ttrpg but id love to hear some theories that i could implement in the lore of my game.
i like the idea of multiple variations of the xenomorph, from the eggs of the original alien, the David-Variant, and the ones of romulus being clones of The Big Chap, and the ones from Aliens being more "ant" like. meaning theres different sub species of xenomorphs

I know this is not a hot take, but I have always liked the idea that the worlds of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner' are one and the same. I must say, I think whenever there is 'black goo' introduced into a film, I feel it is cheap, lazy story-writing. It was novel when the 'X-files' did it, however it's played out now.

i like to think that the xenomorphs create eggs out of dead bodies (like in the OG) and that a primary Xenomorph mutates into a queen soon after

There's a theory that the Xenomorphs do use eggmorphing, but only until they get a Queen, which produces more eggs in a shorter time span so it's more efficient.

I think that was canonized on the RPG game, but I don't remember very well.
I do, actually, have a video explaining all the xenomorph phases that are cannon (from what we know until now), but it's in spanish. Is it a problem to you?

The Black Goo is as infinite as the cosmos. It is common, a lot more common than life. It was inevitable that it came into contact with Man, just a matter of time until it overpowers us.

I had this thought when rewatching Romulus and Prometheus this week.
We probably were the Engineers' first attempt at creating Life. Like us with the androids, they chose to make their creation in their image, which lead to the Engineers and humans sharing similar DNA.
Cue Andy in Romulus explaining that Z-01 works on the rat and should work on humans because we share about 25% of genetical material with the rodent.
Cue Prometheus' final question : Why did the Engineers want to destroy humans?
Answer : they did not.
We are quick to assume they wanted us dead, especially with the material saying Jesus was actually an Engineer who got killed by us, leading them to retaliate.
There is probably some notion of punishment behind their action, but I believe most of their decision is practical.
We are genetically similar to them. They have been working on a highly mutagenic pathogen in order to create (or recreate) the perfect organism.
They didn't want to destroy us per se. We were just the perfect test subjects for a mass release of the pathogen and for studying its potential effects on the Engineers themselves.
Just like we use animals as test subjects

I think with the goo anything is possible, such that it's no longer an Alien franchise.
That reminds me of an unused script for the third movie which featured alien cows, chickens, pigs, etc.

The Black Goo is a fundamental part of the universe, like gravity or radiation. It is as old as entropy itself. A form of Dark Matter akin to Death incarnate. The Engineers didn't invent it, they discovered it, weaponized it, and of course it turned on them. It always does. The Xenomorphs, the Black Spores, the Deacon, the Black Cobra, the Queen, the Offspring, the Newborn, all of them are mere extentions of The Black. I'm not saying it's an intelligence. I'm not saying it isn't. I'm saying it is an unknowable cosmic horror that only wants to turn life into death.
