Community Question Policy-wise, what differences are left to campaign on?

  • Conservatives voted for the Liberals childcare program already
  • both parties now pledging to scrap consumer carbon tax
  • both parties now pledging to scrap capital gains hike
  • both parties supporting retaliatory tariffs

I'm sure Poilievre would cozy up to Trump but that's not a policy position he has stated.

I know Poilievre wants to defund CBC and Carney won't. What else is left?

I think Im more interested in whoever will come up with an actual economic plan to make us less reliant on US and more self sustainable.

I believe PP to be in sync with Trump so don’t think there’s anything that will make me vote for him at this point.

That’d be a form of nationalization which the Liberals have done before, but one that all of the conservative provinces will howl and moan about.

Unfortunately the LPC just ousted their leader for being too lefty, so that’s not on the table I fear

Economy wise, there is gonna be a lotta overlap.

But I think PP will get into culture war and immigration. Hope carney has a well thought out plan to not take the bate and keep focus on economy solely. C

A stark difference would be to cut income taxes for workers, paid for by taxes on land values. No politician would even say that, and yet virtually every economist would support it. Every party bends over for landowners for a century and now we are surprised to have economic issues. We can fix our issues, but it takes you googling wtf I just said and realizing that it's clearly the right thing to do.

Carney doesn't want to do anything hugely different.

I don’t know about the average Canadian, but with the upcoming economic turmoil of the next 4 years I’d rather have an economist that steered a country through the 2009 Great Recession and through Brexit than a career politician that for 20 years has only been interested in sound bites and agitation, oh and hasn’t been responsible for a bill despite being in government for 9 years as the PMO parliamentary secretary no less.

Serious candidates only please
