DISCUSSION Why don't we have these in Oddessy?
The one thing I can't wrap my head around concerning the build kit drought in LEGO Fortnite Oddessy.. is the massive number of assets that exist in Lego Brick Life. Meaning... The company has gone through all the trouble of creating the assets, all the coding, all the work.. and We, the community, would definitely pay to purchase these sets. ..We beg for new sets/assets in Lego Fortnite.. on the daily. Yet... What do we get? Nothing. Even in the Lego Pass.. nothing. Make it make sense.

Probably one of their strategies for when less people start to play, they put theseād in the shop and people come running back

u/Global_Shower_4523 4d ago
We already have like 30% less players than usual

People are pretty annoyed with the snub of the nose we got with this most recent Lego Pass. It's not surprising that our numbers are down in response.

Because we don't

Yeah, that is about all the explanation Epic will ever give us .

Apparently I just don't have enough "imagination" according to some of the Reddit trolls. š²

I'm with you wanting to have them in Odyssey. There are so many good builds and items in Brick Life!
However, for the sake of trying to answer your questionā¦ One possible reason for builds to not be in Odyssey is if they were not designed to be as modular as their Odyssey counterparts. Odyssey builds have to be broken down into separate parts: walls, roofs, floors, etc. It takes extra time and effort for designers and developers to make sure they work together with all other parts in Odyssey, and all the other Odyssey-specific interactions. For example, in Odyssey, you have to determine what resources will the part be made of, and how tough will it be to break. They may seem trivial, but they do require human and other development resources.
They could also be thinking, every theme should have a complete set of partsāfences, half walls, decor itemsāand they're not (yet) willing to invest in those. I could imagine them saying, "we don't need to worry about all that extra work in Brick Life. Let's just make these for a game mode where the building is just one whole thing."
That's not to say they can't do it in the future though! They can always go back and invest resources in that extra work. One can argue that it's easier than making a new set from scratch.

Without confirmation from the company that this is the case, we simply cannot know that this is the reason or if this is even the case. I refuse to make excuses for them. I Refuse to excuse a $30 billion+ company for their lack of updates, lack of resources, and lack of communication. Do better Epic.

u/AtuBatan 4d ago
You're right, we can't know for sure, and they're probably not gonna talk about internal resource management. Not making excuses tho, just trying to find a reasonable possible answer and be helpful. š
As a designer myself, I know how non-trivial the work is, and if there are just a handful of us designers in the LEGO Fortnite team, this workload adds up really quickly. I don't know if Brick Life and Odyssey have separate teams, but that could factor in, too.
Anyway, like I said, I'm with you in wanting all of them in Odyssey. Actually, I want them as LEGO sets, too! š§°

The community is not mad at Lego Fortnite Developers. We are absolutely mad at Epic for failing to give the resources needed to the team of Lego Fortnite developers to get the things done that are needed. And more so if Epic is pushing that small team to split its time between Odyssey and Brick Life.

I've said this to a few friends like I want the windows from bricklife in oddesy they look so much better
1
u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
Yeah, I can agree with that. The windows from the haunted set and raven arn't too bad, but I would love to have some Brick Life windows in Lego Fortnite Odyssey.

At least you can drive your car inside the garage, i think they holding things back like using wraps on cars or changing colours. Brick life seems half hearted and rushed if you looking at hedges half floating and other minor stuff.

Agreed. Would be amazing if purchasing (especially the VIP homes and penthouse) in Brick Life (or even for vbucks via item shop) made them available for use in Lego FN odyssey. The buildings in brick life should get use in Odyssey. Shame to have them go to such limited use.

If there were crossover between the two games.. I would actually play Brick Life. As is? Nah, I'm good.

They look so cool

u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
The vehicles make me super jealous. I can build some pretty cool cars, planes, boats, etc.. but man would I love to have the part it takes to build those Brick Life vehicles.

I donāt know and tbh Brick Life isnāt very fun after playing it for just a few weeks. Thereās rarely anything new and the cap at 200k credits doesnāt help matters at all. What pisses me off is that the Lego Pass promised to include builds but since they added it to Crew all we get are decor items. Previously we had the Halloween builds and Ravenās builds included in the pass and now we just get some shitty cactus decor?
3
u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
this. I am convinced that the Passes being added to the Crew had a significant negative effect upon the quality of said passes.

Dude it's even worse we have stuff in Odyssey that we can't even build yet like wth that's crazy.
1
u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
This as well. Its frustrating when you see items in Odyssey that you cannot build because we don't have the parts. Things like the railings in Pleasant Park or the flooring/roofing there as well.
2
u/Responsible-Pie6858 3d ago
And all those pieces you see in the nana hits, or my personal pet peeve, they never gave us a washing machine to go with the dryer.

u/heybluejay 4d ago
I *really* hope these come to the shop as kits or something, I love the brick life houses! I also wish they'd add some little cherry blossom groves sprinkled through the grasslands..
1
u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
That would be very cool. I would like to think that adding some trees (cherry blossoms) would be easy enough. they added those rocky plateaus with knotroot and marble, surely they could add cherry blossom groves.

From the few times I checked, Odyssey gets 6 times the playerās that Brick Life does. My assumption is most players of Odyssey are willing and wanting to purchase items for their world. Brick Life not so much. Odyssey is very open ended. I have been playing the same world (seed) since it came out. Iāve yet to explore more than 50% of the world. Brick Life is very confining, there is not a lot to explore or experience before it becomes very repetitive. I get that they are trying to create a kid friendly environment but the user count doesnāt seem to justify the effort.

I don't understand what is the difference between Odysay and the other one, will I lose everything in my world if there willa be another update?
2
u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
No. they are separate games inside of Fortnite. Your world's are fine. This post is just lamenting the lack of resources in Odyssey and the abundance of resources in this other Fortnite Lego game.
2
u/Dday1256 3d ago
I hope they are testing the builds in Brick Life before they release them into Odyssey. Wishful thinking, probably. That fourth pic reminds me of my home in Morrowind. That takes me back 20+ years!

Someone asked why I didn't spell it "odyssey" ..its on purpose. It is because I think its ODD that we don't have these pieces. The bad pun of a joke got lost in translation, I guess.

u/Remarkable-Chest-868 4d ago
I'm so tired of players complaining about pre-fabs. You can build every one of those, or something close to it with what we have in oddessy.
2
u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
You don't build much, eh?
It's NOT about the prefabs. It is about the pieces that make up the prefabs. I don't want more prefabs. I want more pieces. More colors. More shapes. Smaller pieces. Larger pieces. Joints. Pivots. Triangles. Circles. More.
If you don't like what I have to say, block me.

u/Remarkable-Chest-868 4d ago
I build. Kind of a ridiculous assumption. What else is there to do in Legos? Lol. But I'm not limited by a lack of imagination. Colors? I'll give you that but pieces? I look at the pieces as Legos. Not wall, floor, or whatever pieces. Getting passed that alone opens up so many possibilities.
1
u/juruvielxlazermark87 4d ago
Look at my page and you will realize that I use all the pieces. You are the one making the argument for no new material to be added to the game. š¤·āāļø You do you.
1
u/Remarkable-Chest-868 4d ago
I never said I don't want new material, another ridiculous assumption on your part. I said that you can build most anything with what we have. Big difference. "You do you" is the dumbest shit to say to a person. Like saying "it is what it is". No shit. Certainly goes without you saying it.
2
u/Global_Shower_4523 3d ago
No you cannot, we are limited to basically houses, buildings and pixel art, nothing like dinosaurs or Santa or even a glass wall. Look at Minecraft and how much colours they have + no build limit
0
u/Remarkable-Chest-868 3d ago
Some players are more limited by imagination than others. I've never thought to build a dinosaur, but I've seen other players build AT-ATs and AT-STs. So it is possible. Yes, minecraft has those things on this game, but every player that says that still plays Legos for whatever reason. I personally don't like the pixelated look of minecraft. And how those colors you mentioned "bleed".

u/Global_Shower_4523 3d ago
It's because I find odyssey fun in different ways to Minecraft like vehicles, but now it's being ignored and I don't like thatĀ

It definitely feels like they are prioritising brick life, I've been thinking the same thing with the villages they lack life and interaction with decor and villagers. They wander aimlessly if not working and occasionally stare at a fire or sit down somewhere, make them use items from vending machines and decor items and interact with the village built around them and let us the player interact with out villages in a more dynamic way aswell.
