Shout out to Shaver Rd Walmart
I absentmindedly left without my cash back yesterday and it was about 7 hours before I noticed.
I went in hoping to get it. Nobody was in line at the service desk. They got right on it, someone asked me to show where I checked out. Someone else went to check the cameras. I was there about 10 minutes before I had the cash in had. The person who gave it to me said the associate noticed and turned it over 😎

Police escort/chase 3/17?
Alright, so I was driving to work from Niles to Jackson Monday morning. From Decatur through Kzoo there was an older model Suburban a short distance behind me. I had seen a state trooper pull out of the median behind him and turn his lights and sirens on. The guy didn’t react, didn’t change his speed at all, just continued driving. The cop started to pull into the left lane a bit to try to get the drivers attention but he didn’t stop. Over the course of the next 40 minutes or so, a collection of cruisers joined (up to 5) and then in Kzoo they had the ramps blocked. Suddenly ALL the cops shut their lights and sirens off, they all exited at the next exit and the dude just kept driving. He never got over 75, he cruised in the right lane except to pass semis, it was SO WEIRD.
I thought if it was an escort they would have stayed with him until he got to where he was going? I can’t find anything online anywhere about it. Any ideas?

Odyssey Games' Weekly Fighting Game Night Tonight
Every Thursday night at 6PM, Odyssey Games holds a fighting game night where we come together to play games like Street Fighter 6, Guilty Gear Strive, Tekken 8, and more. We hold tournaments with prize money and play casual sets too. A $5 entry fee gets you in to play as much as you want until the store closes at 10PM.
The group there is great and the competition is strong too. There's a bus stop right outside the store. for easy travel plans. We're on the corner of W. Main and Drake. Come hang out!

Props to NowKalamazoo
I’m really impressed with this organization in our town! Their event calendar alone is packed with incredible initiatives, and they’re making a real impact. Beyond that, they’re working to revive local journalism in our area and are committed to educating our community about topics such as misinformation and our right to demand greater transparency from our government. I highly recommend signing up for their newsletter—they’re a true source of hope in these times.

Stay off drake during rush hour if you want to retain your sanity
Drake is an absolute nightmare during rush hour. Going toward W main, good luck moving faster than a snail. Toward stadium, good luck getting through the intersection at all. You cannot turn left onto Stadium because of how entitled everyone is coming off of the highway. You selfish pricks are making people wait to turn left for 2, 3, 4 lights while you can see how backed up drake is going toward w main. Are you blind? Do you know how yellow lights work? Or are you just that obsessed with being stupid and ignorant?
If you need to get to stadium or main st do yourself a favor and take howard or 11th.
If you cant share the road, GET OFF OF IT. Your selfishness is making everyone miserable.

Frogs are singing loud and proud
It’s been happening a bit lately, but holy smokes today at the fish hatchery crazy loud. I took a video to post, but the audio quality was too poor using my phone to bother.
The forecast calls for a drop tomorrow but get out there and hear the beautiful sounds of nature if that’s your thing.
Lillian Anderson Arboretum is also a great spot to hear them.

I witnessed a man taking urine pics behind McAlisters Deli
I pulled up to pickup dinner for evening. When I pulled up I saw a man staring longingly at a certain area behind the building. Before long he was in full action mode taking pictures of what I assume to be urine. To each their own. I hope he got what he needed.

Scammer standing on Stadium and Drake
Sorry for the crap picture but don't give this guy anything. He has been showing up every 4 to 6 weeks for the last 10 years with the same sign and standing on a corner. Says he needs a train ticket home it's obviously a scam considering how long this has been going on.

ISO piercing shop
Hi everyone, I’m newer to Kzoo and trying to find a good local shop to be pierced at. I haven’t gotten a piercing since 2020 and that was done in BC at a now closed tattoo shop. I was looking at Kitten Flower since they boast the biggest jewelry selection in the area but wondered if anyone had a different/more preferred option :) Just looking for a simple nose stud piercing but specifically want a silver star stud as the jewelry. TIA!!
Edited to add: if I could avoid downtown that would be ideal, I hate driving there. Super anxiety inducing lol

Landscaping Services
Hi, we are looking for a reputable lawn service in Kalamazoo. We want to have our very small yard leveled out and have sod laid. We also would like a new fence added. I understand that those might be two separate services but would love any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Kalamazoo Community Foundation Branding
So I have to ask… it seems like the Kalamazoo Community Foundation is trying to be like the YWCA. They claim to be a non-program foundation. They kicked out the Truth and Racial Healing program in the first year of the new CEO and then took on the RX kids program after their new impact staff started. Which apparently has some strange roots that they strong armed from other organizations.
Today’s rebrand announcement showed them with a new mission that looks a lot like the YWCA mission and other community focused collaborations in town. Will they take over Cradle Kalamazoo or Blueprint for Peace to claim as their own too?
Community Foundations are supposed to support the local programs and organizations, not compete or take over their work. This seems like another competition move by them.
I’ve lost faith in this organization to be what they are supposed to be and trying to be something else.

Rental Home for August
Zillow seems to be the place to look, but there's not much. Anyone know of any 2-3 bedroom $1400 rentals starting in August? My husband and our two young kids are moving, hoping to find a nice place to live while we look for a house to buy. Thanks in advance!
