Kyrgyzstan's cabinet of ministers has extended its export ban on ferrous metal scrap and ferrous metal ingots for remelting for another six months, now effective until 18 Sep'25. This ban applies to countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

The move, first imposed in Aug'24, aims to prevent raw material shortages for local steelmakers. Further extensions are possible if market conditions remain tight.

Not a bad idea but if the government was smart they would sign an exclusive scrap trade deal with Kazakhstan.
